My Story
Maggie began her yoga journey on the ocean practicing SUP (stand up paddle board) in San Diego, CA, being on the water moving through asanas proved to calm and relax the mind. After practicing on land and water she wanted to learn more about yoga to share with others and completed 200 hour RYT in Mexico in 2015. This course was the foundation for creating a light hearted restorative sequence to share with others. Since then Maggie has continued trainings such as: SUP yoga teacher training (25 hour) with Floating Yogiâs in Carlsbad, CA, 90 Monkeys Advanced Teacher Training: How to Teach Students with Tight Bodies and Injuries with Amy Ippoliti and Tymi Howard workshops; Adjustments, Inversions, and Bhakti in Auckland, NZ
My story and why I started practicing/teaching yoga:
I spent over ten years dealing with anger, grief, and depression. When two of my friends passed away in tragic accidents at the age of 20 I bottled in grief and anger, I relived hearing the news, my last moments with them, and what if that didn't happen. My mind was never still, I was living in the past and I was angry this happened.
Finally I found a sense of calm and happiness on the water, it was soothing and I made stand up paddle-boarding a part of my meditation to heal. This led to trying SUP yoga and falling in love with flowing through asanas on the water. Taking my practice from water to land was only natural and I continued to work on myself from within. Slowing the breath and living in the moment helped me to gradually let go of grief and anger.
