Jill Merrill is an AADP Certified Health Coach, with an appetite for guiding individuals on a path to healthy and energized lives. Jill earned her Bachelors Degree in Professional Aeronautics and Management from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Daytona Beach, Florida and has over twenty five years of corporate, professional experience in aviation as an air traffic controller, aviation safety team leader, quality assurance, training, supervision and is herself a pilot and USAF veteran. In addition to her Holistic Health Coach Certification, Jill owns Picture of Health Thermograms where she has provided women and men with a safe, adjunct medical scanning method which uses no radiation, no touch and no pain. When Jill’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer over fourteen years ago, she became concerned that she might have a higher risk for developing the disease. Jill learned that thermography when added to your breast care program adds another layer of prevention to the mix. Breast thermography (also called thermal imaging, thermograms or DITI) shows angiogenesis or the blood supply to the area where a tumor is developing giving you years advance warning so you can change the outcome. When Jill had her first breast thermograms they did show the beginnings of the disease. Jill was able to change her outcome with dietary changes, reducing stress and bringing together body, mind and soul. So when Jill retired from the FAA she opened her thermography business in Fayetteville, NC to empower local women to do the same. Picture of Health Thermograms serves Fayetteville and surrounding communities. Jill drew upon her experience of taking control of her health and decided she wanted to teach others how to do the same. Jill went on to graduate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City where she was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, she will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.. With her experience as a leader and trainer, combined with her passion for health and nutrition, Jill is able to design successful programs that enable people to form lasting healthy living habits. Jill founded Picture of Health, a consultative program that offers impactful workshops, group and one-one coaching to develop and support wellness goals and strategies. Each program is designed to meet the unique needs of the individual and focuses on developing healthy habits, choosing foods that add value, and then conversely removing habits that are not constructive. Participants will see positive changes in their eating habits, have more energy and will find themselves making better choices towards their overall well being. Jill helps busy moms incorporate these strategies in meal planning for their families so they can reap the benefits as well. She has lots of tips for transitioning even the pickiest eaters in the family. Participants find they are happier, healthier and more centered after completing a course of health coaching. The Picture of Health approach is to reach as many as possible before health issues become serious. Jill believes that, “Without a positive support system and a plan, people can get lost in the negative and resist taking the very simple steps that can lead to long-lasting positive change.”

Is our drinking water safe? Check out NC testing results..

Yesterday the U.S. EPA released results from the first round of required PFAS testing for public water systems across the nation. This data included samples from 24 locations in North Carolina. Of those 24 locations, 15 samples would exceed EPA’s proposed PFAS drinking water standards.

Click here to review results: https://www.cleancapefear.org/dailyfilter/rkbr6kwx8nzf44bpjza7r4dfnltx53

The top five NC locations with the highest levels of total PFAS from EPA’s sample results are:

Robeson County Water System: 122.4 ppt
Ft. Liberty #1: 58 ppt
Lillington Water System: 56.7 ppt
Ft. Liberty #2: 56.5 ppt
Brunswick County Water System: 45.7 ppt

These results are vastly underreporting the true scope of PFAS contamination in drinking water because the EPA is only requiring public water systems to test for 24 PFAS when the EPA admits there are over 14,000 different PFAS in existence. Currently, commercial labs are capable of testing for 70 or more PFAS.

Clean Cape Fear partnered with NRDC and the National PFAS Contamination Coalition News & Update Page to publish a peer-reviewed study illustrating how communities are being left in the dark and overexposed to these dangerous “forever chemicals” in their tap water. Almost half of the different PFAS detected in the study would never be found by EPA’s current monitoring requirements. For example, the North Carolina samples had the highest levels of unmonitored PFAS. Those samples came from Oak Island and Ocean Isle.
