If you’re not digesting well, you’re not DETOXING well.

We’ve always heard “You are what you eat.”

Half true!

The whole truth is, 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝘿𝙄𝙂𝙀𝙎𝙏!

I once heard this said, “You are what you don’t s**t.” LOL. Well that’s actually very well put.

🌱In Ayurveda, the quality of your digestion = the quality of your health.

🌱If your digestion and elimination aren’t easy and regular, your body isn’t absorbing all the nutrients of your foods, and is actually holding on to toxins rather than letting them go.

🌱If this kind of imbalance becomes chronic, toxic build up can occur in your colon and/or back into your bloodstream (finding their way throughout your body, even into your brain).

GOOD DIGESTION is the FOUNDATION of GOOD HEALTH.

Seasonal cleansing helps to reset your digestion and help your body let that toxic s**t gooooooo.

Ayurvedic detox = a must for body, brain and emotional health.

How Ayurveda works...

cumin : salty and pungent (heating) good for balancing kapha (earth) and vata (air)

coriander : bitter (drying, cooling) good for balancing kapha (earth) and pitta (fire)

fennel: sweet (moistening, cooling) good for balancing vata (air) and pitta (fire)

Ayurveda is so investigative. When it comes to pretty much anything – choosing what to eat or how to decorate your home – always ask, “What are the qualities?”

Qualities work in sets of opposites: hot/cold, light/heavy, rough/smooth etc…

When you understand the qualities as they relate to the doshas, you can know which other qualities will help bring you into balance.

Can you see how the combination of these three seeds strike a happy balance between air, fire and earth?

Why is this little brekki so freaking satisfying? It's the perfect balance of opposites 🥑🍞

Toast: 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘺, 𝘥𝘳𝘺, 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘮
Avocado: 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲, 𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡, 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭, 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐥

Perfect balance of opposites between weight, texture and temperature.

Bread is so Vata (air)
Avocado is so Kapha (earth)

Toasting the bread (🔥) and adding some cracked salt and pepper (🌶) brings the fire element (Pitta) into the mix

Ayurveda is ALL ABOUT BALANCE
Balancing what you eat is all about finding the right ratio of each element for your dosha with foods and flavors.

As a vata mama, the light, crunchy toast is so satisfying for my senses, and the heaviness of the avocado literally helps to ground me in my body.

Gotta say, Avocado Toast might be a properly balanced go-to no matter which dosha you are. Win!!!!!

Maybe you call it a food hangover. I call it DOMS.

Delayed onset M̶u̶s̶c̶l̶e̶ ̶s̶o̶r̶e̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ MOOD symptoms

DOM, DOM, DOM, DOMMMMS

It takes time for your body to break down whatever you fill it with. Makes sense that “consequences” are often felt the next day, not in the moment of instant gratification.

My triggers: gluten, dairy, alcohol.
My DOMS: Brain fog. Zombie mode. LETHARGY. Sometimes I feel pretty sad pants.

Gotta say... alcohol is my slippery slope when it comes to DOMS.

Gluten can immediately trigger a reaction so it's easier to just say no. And dairy makes me break out so my vanity helps keep me in check.

But a little glass of wine?
Yeah let's go for it.
And one glass leads to a second and tomorrow Im still in the mood for it and then day three I'm foggy and lethargic and wondering if there's a low pressure system moving in.... DOMS baby.
