It’s , a time to highlight gastroesophageal reflux disease which is one of the most common digestive conditions, affecting millions each year.

Thanksgiving meals can be especially challenging for those with GERD. Classic holiday favorites with large portions, rich desserts, and late-night leftovers can trigger uncomfortable symptoms like heartburn, regurgitation, and chest discomfort.

Here are a few ways to support digestive health this holiday:
🍽️ Choose smaller, more frequent portions
🥗Avoid fatty foods like chips, dips, and cheeses. They are slow to empty from the stomach and more likely to aggravate symptoms
🛌 Avoid lying down for 2–3 hours after meals
💧 Swap carbonated or acidic drinks for water or herbal tea

If you’re experiencing chronic reflux, our Gastrointestinal & Esophageal Center can help.
