Safe sleep is essential for protecting your baby and giving you peace of mind. Placing a bassinet or crib next to your bed - known as room-sharing - can reduce your baby’s risk of SIDS by 50%.
Key safe sleep practices include:
- Always place your baby in their own safe sleep space
- Never sleep with your baby or fall asleep while holding them
- Provide supervised tummy time when baby is awake
- Breastfeed, if possible
- Keep your baby’s environment smoke-free
- For late-night feeds, set an alarm as a reminder to return your baby to the crib
Together, these practices help your baby sleep safely and grow healthy.
