She didn’t know it yet …

But she would witness over 1,000 births & 1,000s more breastfeed. This little girl would hold the hands of many mamas. Washing the sweat off their brow, asking what they need, & encouraging them to get to the other side. Because she knew they could. She would hold space for them. Help them. Give guidance on connection and feeding. Create intimacy in being a mother.

She doesn’t realize it yet but all the mamas. All the babies she would hold were not just in her hands but in her heart…and it all began when she held the hands of her siblings🤍

Do not forget there is a free Support group through the South County Hospital that still runs each Wednesday 10-12noon at the Neighborhood Guild for FREE .lactation oversees this group.

👂🏻 Sympathetic: shifts from fight/flight to rest/digest
👂🏼 Shen Men: helps emotional processing
👂🏽 Kidney: releases fear & supports adrenal glands
👂🏾 Liver: relates to anger/irritability, detox
👂🏿Lung: relates with grief/sadness & skin detox

This method I learned about today has an abundant history. Many cultures have used this and in the 1970’s the Black Panthers & the Young Lords used this technique to help their communities recover from addictions and traumatic life events. If you would like to learn more about some rich history using this therapy to detox and heal from substance abuse check out Dope is Death a podcast. Dope is Death on YouTube. This is used in conjunction with other therapies.

It’s a non-verbal way to gain some relief in a community setting for stress, pain, trauma & substance use. You can sit quietly. 30 min just breathing.
