What is the number 1 cancer killer in women?
Most people answer breast cancer.
It's NOT- It's LUNG CANCER. Never- smoking women have 2X rate of never smoking men, with young and middle aged women impacted the most.
Dr. Andrea Mckee👩‍⚕️ volunteer spokesperson for American Lung Association, speaks with CNN from the GO2 Lung Cancer Conference ( go2.org)
Risk factors other than smoking:
Family history of lung cancer🚭
Second hand smoke🚭
Radon☢️
Air pollution😷
Asbestos🩻
Arsenic in drinking water🌧

📢 Speak up for equity in research funding. Lawmakers are considering the "Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventative Services Act". Awareness of lung cancer's effect on women is lacking.

I had the distinct honor of speaking at the Lahey Women’s Leadership Council Lunchtime Lecture Series held in honor of Kathleen Huber.
She would ask me “What is needed to improve Women’s Health? “

I think of this question - during surgeries, in gynecology clinic and with my family.
She was an amazing advocate, entrepreneur and friend who inspires me daily.

A fund in Kathy’s honor is being established by her friends at Beth Israel Lahey Health. For honorary gifts, please visit https://www.lahey.org/lhmc/giving/ or a check made payable to “Lahey Hospital and Medical Center” with “KATHY HUBER/GYN FUND” in the memo line. Contributions can be mailed to: Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Office of Philanthropy, 330 Brookline Ave (OV), Boston, MA 02215. The gift should note that Kathy Huber is the designated honoree and the fund is to support Gynecological Oncology.

The endowed fund has reached more-than 50,000$ and will benefit gynecologic research in service of better women’s health at .

Congratulations to Dr. Jessica Kim who presented our teams work on robotic laparoscopic removal of fibroid tumors at 2022.
Surgical skills are best practiced in simulation ( lab setting) before the operating room. Proud to have used Prince Edward Island PEI potatoes - best in the world! 🥔

According to folklore, seeing a Sun dog or Whirling Rainbow is a sign of good luck. Formed by cirrus clouds high in the atmosphere, tiny ice crystals cause the light to be refracted ( bend) causing the halo. Sun dogs or sun halos are often indicative of foul weather.
☀️🐩 seen on July 16 my Birthday-to start my best year yet!
Enjoy the rain.

" Grief Is Simply Love With No Where To Go.”
- Kathy Curtis

Elephants are known for the profound way they mourn their dead and express their grief. They surround their beloveds, touching the bones gently with their trunks while remaining very quiet, covering the body with leaves and grass. Sometimes they’ll stay with the body for weeks at a time.
Lawrence Anthony, a conservationist who had rescued and rehabilitated elephants, was mourned by a group of elephants who walked 12 miles to his home. They made the sojourn to his home without anyway of knowing of his passing - where they had never been, and stood vigil for two days before leaving.

Listen to the Podcast: It's Time You Knew: Creative Tools for Processing Grief with Kathy Curtis.

Kathy has written "Invisible Ink" showing us how letters written to her mother- and the letters her mother wrote back- transformed her own grief. Her workshops and creative writing tools help us have meaningful conversations about life and death. She helps us find a place for ❤🥰 to go.
