On November 8, 1895, today’s exact date! Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen made a discovery that changed the course of medical history “ the X-ray “ While experimenting with cathode rays in his laboratory at the University of Würzburg, Germany, Roentgen noticed a mysterious glow coming from a fluorescent screen nearby. Curious, he realized that invisible rays could pass through objects and reveal what was hidden inside.

To test his discovery, he took the first ever X-ray image of his wife Anna Bertha Ludwig’s hand, showing her bones and wedding ring. 💍 Shocked! she reportedly said, “I have seen my death!” not out of fear, but awe at seeing inside her body for the first time.

This breakthrough became the foundation of Radiologic Science, revolutionizing medicine by allowing doctors to see inside the human body without surgery.

From that single image in 1895 to the advanced CT scans, MRI, ultrasound, and digital imaging we use today, radiologic technology continues to save lives every day.

Let’s honor the genius and curiosity of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen the man who illuminated the unseen and sparked a new era in medical diagnostics.

In celebration of Earth Day this week, Radiology Associates Of Wausau/ Open MRI Of Wausau, participated in 2025 Spring Green & Clean.

It’s Wausau's annual cleanup to rid our beautiful landscape of litter and debris!

The event, which has removed 40.42 TONS of trash to date, is a productive way for individuals and groups of all ages to celebrate Earth Day and engage in a healthy outdoor activity in support of our community.

It was a beautiful day, joining coworkers, families and friends together, getting outside in the fresh spring sunshine and 🌎 cleaning up the Earth with a few interesting finds.
