During Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re proud to recognize the dedicated volunteers at Lutheran Hospital who make a meaningful difference every day.

Whether they’re greeting visitors with a smile, helping patients and families feel more at ease, or supporting caregivers throughout the hospital, our volunteers bring kindness, compassion and comfort to every corner of Lutheran. Their generosity of time and service helps create a welcoming experience for all who walk through our doors.

This week, we were honored to celebrate our volunteers with a special breakfast as a small thank-you for the big impact they make. We are grateful for each and every one of them.

Please join us in congratulating Amanda Brown, Perioperative Nursing Professional Development Specialist at Lutheran Hospital, on receiving both the DAISY Award and L.O.V.E. Award. 💙🌼

Amanda is a dedicated educator, mentor and leader whose impact is felt across our hospital and community. She helps onboard new caregivers, leads training programs for future OR nurses, and champions evidence-based practices that strengthen patient care.

Her compassion shines through in the caregivers she mentors, including a recent patient compliment recognizing a nurse Amanda helped train for providing comfort and reassurance before surgery.

Amanda’s commitment to teaching extends beyond the hospital as she also supports local students through a high school CNA program, helping inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We are grateful to have Amanda as a part of our Lutheran family!

Lutheran Hospital has been redesignated as a Level II trauma center by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. As a Level II trauma center, Lutheran Hospital plays a vital role in our Colorado trauma system. We provide rapid, specialized care 24/7 for patients with serious injuries while offering the same core clinical capabilities as Level I trauma centers. Trauma designation ensures patients receive the right care at the right time, strengthens coordination between EMS and hospitals, maximizes specialized resources—and ultimately saves lives.

Planning ahead is one of the most meaningful ways to care for yourself—and for the people who love you.

This National Healthcare Decisions Day, we encourage you to take time to think about your wishes for future medical care and have conversations with those closest to you. Advance care planning helps ensure your voice is heard, even if you’re unable to speak for yourself.

It can be as simple as choosing a trusted decision-maker, completing an advance directive, or starting the conversation with your family.

Our caregivers are here to support you every step of the way—because your choices matter, and your care should reflect what matters most to you.

Learn more and start the conversation today.

Joanne Garcia, Environmental Services technician, was recently honored with Intermountain Health’s L.O.V.E. (Living Our Values Everyday) Award at Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital—and her impact is something you feel the moment she walks into a room.

She lives our values by serving with empathy and recognizing that even the smallest moments matter. During a family’s stay in the hospice unit, Joanne didn’t just clean the room—she cared for it with intention, awareness, and heart. She had a remarkable ability to read the emotional tone of each space, offering quiet respect during difficult moments and warmth when it was needed most. She remembered faces, made families feel seen, and treated every space as one where something meaningful was happening.

Even while missing time with her own family on Thanksgiving, Joanne showed up fully for others—embodying what it means to be better together.

In a setting centered on loss, Joanne brought dignity, compassion, and humanity with every visit. 💙

Access to care often starts with a simple but critical question: Do I have insurance coverage—and how do I use it?

At Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital, we’re working to answer that through our partnership with Doctors Care. Together, we’re helping community members not only enroll in health insurance, but also understand how to navigate the healthcare system with confidence.

Doctors Care Colorado's coverage team assists with Medicaid, CHP+, and marketplace plans through Connect for Health Colorado, while also providing year-round support for renewals, eligibility, and troubleshooting—because coverage needs don’t stop after open enrollment.

Through community ambassadors, this work extends beyond clinic walls—bringing health insurance education into schools, resource fairs, and trusted community spaces to make information more accessible and less intimidating.

This partnership is about more than coverage—it’s about helping people access the right care, at the right time, and supporting healthier outcomes across our community.

At Lutheran Hospital, we recently gathered to honor the extraordinary gift of organ, tissue and eye donation alongside our partners at Donor Alliance and Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank. The event included reflections from a heart transplant recipient who is also one of our caregivers, as well as our president and one of our chaplains, recognizing the donors and families whose generosity creates hope in the midst of loss.

The impact of that gift is profound. In 2025, Lutheran Hospital had:
• 10 organ donors
• 31 transplanted organs, helping save 29 lives
• 65 tissue donors
• 1,009 tissues recovered, helping to heal approximately 4,875 individuals

And already in 2026, that life-changing legacy continues:
• 3 organ donors
• 11 transplanted organs, helping save 10 lives
• 12 tissue donors
• 157 tissues recovered, helping to heal approximately 900 individuals

This month and every month, we honor donors, celebrate recipients, and recognize the families who make these second chances possible.

Learn more about organ, tissue and eye donation through Donor Alliance.

Over the past few weeks, 363 caregivers across 40 departments at Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital took part in our inaugural March Madness Caregiver Free Throw Challenge—and the championship round did not disappoint.

After some impressive showdowns, our Final Four teams came down to Central Transport, Central Supply, Nutrition Services, and Facilities. In the final matchup, Central Supply faced off against Nutrition Services, with Central Supply taking home the win.

Thank you to everyone who participated, cheered each other on, and made this such a fun way to connect across teams.

This week, we’re celebrating the caregivers who help make every patient’s experience start with compassion. 💙

During Patient Access Week, we recognize the teams at Lutheran Hospital who help patients navigate scheduling, registration and the many important first steps of care. Often the first point of contact, these caregivers play a vital role in creating a smooth, supportive experience from the very beginning.

This year’s theme, “Innovative Access: Transforming Healthcare Management for the Future,” highlights the meaningful work these teams do every day to improve access, reduce barriers and help patients feel seen, supported and cared for.

Thank you to our Patient Access caregivers for all you do to keep care moving forward.
