Out of 1,400 caregivers who received a Tier 1 L.O.V.E. Award, only 36 were selected for the distinguished Tier 2 honor — and we’re incredibly proud to celebrate Kia Vang (Left) and Heather Speaks (Right) as two of them. 💙
Kia’s recognition reflects not just one extraordinary moment of patient advocacy, but her consistent commitment to Intermountain Health’s values and mission of being partners in health. When a patient considered postponing a lung cancer screening due to cost concerns, Kia took immediate action — coordinating with authorization partners, confirming coverage, and personally following up with the patient. Because of her persistence, the screening happened in time and led to the early detection of two cancers, giving that patient a far better chance at a successful outcome.
Heather Speak’s work stretches across volunteer programs, valet services, the Gift Shop and other Front Range hospitals. For years, she has been the architect behind major hospital and community events, building bridges, visibility and meaningful partnerships. Her leadership style is rooted in empathy and purpose, and it shows in the programs she champions. Read her full story on our February 9th post below.
Kia Vang and Heather Speaks’ Tier 2 L.O.V.E. Awards are a powerful reminder of the impact caregivers can have when they do the right thing, act with purpose, and always put patients first. We’re so proud to have you both at Lutheran Hospital.
