There are small muscles in our upper neck, right under the back of the skull, called the suboccipital muscle group. They play an important role in head movement, posture, and fine motor control for eye movements.

What's special about these muscles is they contain an unusually high number of sensors called muscle spindles. These spindles help our brain understand where our head is in space, which is important for good posture and coordination.

A study found these tiny muscles had way more sensors than expected, almost five times more than other muscles in the spine.

Interestingly, these muscles have no tendon organs, suggesting their primary function is not about contracture, but to act as stabilizers and provide sensory feedback to our brain.

Every year, millions of children experience seemingly harmless head bumps, from playground tumbles to sports mishaps. But did you know these “little owies” can lead to BIG changes in how a child sees, reads, and learns?

🧠 Vision is the brain’s most powerful input system, and it's often left out of concussion recovery.

📍 Join us for our upcoming webinar: “Small Falls. Big Impact.” to learn why vision must be part of the care plan.

Many patients with whiplash are dismissed when their imaging comes back “normal." When you are only treated solely for neck pain, but your neurological complaints remain, you have to evaluate your upper cervical spine properly. Recognizing that whiplash can produce concussion-like symptoms is essential.

Even without a direct impact to the head, the whiplash injury can cause similar symptoms like:

Headache
Dizziness or balance issues
Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
Sensitivity to light or sound
Fatigue
Neck pain and stiffness
Mood changes such as irritability or anxiety

We focus on correcting misalignments in the upper cervical spine, particularly the atlas (C1) and axis (C2). Even small shifts in this area can throw off your posture and create tension that fuels

Our gentle, non-invasive upper cervical adjustments help restore proper alignment, reduce neck strain and support long-term relief. Many patients notice less tension and fewer headaches within just 4 to 6 weeks.

If you’ve been living with frequent headaches, or both, it’s time for a new approach. Let us help you feel clearer, lighter and more in control of your health!
