Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund

We provide financial emergency assistance for honorably discharged veterans with at least 90 days of service

Burial of Honorably Discharged Veterans and Spouse

If the veterans estate is less than $40,000 the NCVA will pay $300 to the estate of a deceased veteran or spouse. Headstone Setting Fee

The NCVA will pay a $35 headstone setting fee to the cemetery sexton for a cement foundation for a government issued headstone. Federal Assistance

VA Benefits

Our Service Officers are available to assist veterans, their spouses, and their children in initiating claims for service connected disabilities, pensions, widow's pensions, and Dependent Indemnity Compensation (DIC), obtaining lost discharge papers or providing guidance when dealing with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. What you need to bring to an appointment
*Copy of your DD214
*Medical Records from your Doctor
*Marriage License
*Death Certificate - If applying for Burial or DIC Benefits
*Financial Information

Battle Creek Veterans Health Administration Staff will be available today at the Board of Commisioners Room in White Cloud from 10:30am until 2:00pm. They have information on VA Healthcare and can do enrollments today. If you are interested please bring your DD214.

We also need to worry about those who seem to be good, those who are helping others get through the tough times. Sometimes they can lose the fight and give in to the demons and we didn’t even see it coming.

You are looking at a real American hero right there. Faris Tuohy is holding a photo from 1944. That’s him on the left, holding a cup of coffee, after two days of battle in WWII. He’s 94 now, he’ll be 95 in April. “Thank you” just doesn’t seem enough. I appreciate the men and women who put their lives on the line for our freedoms so much.

VETERANS’ SERVICES MILLAGE PROPOSAL

* A proposal to levy a millage in an amount not to exceed .10 mill ($.10 on each $1,000 of taxable value)

* .0995 mill of this millage is a renewal of the millage rate that expired in 2017 and .0005 mill is new additional millage to restore the millage rate previously authorized

* The millage would be authorized for ten (10) years, 2018 to 2027.

*The millage would provide funds for any veterans’ services authorized by law.

* The estimate of the revenue the County will collect if the millage is approved and levied by the County in the 2018 calendar year is approximately $145,000
