Dr. Michael F. Gioscia MD, FACS, ABVLM is a Board-Certified surgeon with vascular fellowship training, providing top-notch care at the Vein Institute of Westchester in West Harrison, New York. Dr. Gioscia has almost three decades of experience treating all venous conditions.
Dr. Gioscia achieved his Bachelor of Science degree (Summa Cum Laude) from St. John’s University in Queens, New York, where he was the Valedictorian of the College of Science. In 1986, Dr. Gioscia received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, then went on to complete a five-year residency in Surgery followed by a Vascular Surgery Fellowship.at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, in 1992. He was inducted into the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 1994.
Dr. Gioscia is among the first group of physicians in the United States to become board certified in the new vascular subspecialty dedicated solely to the treatment of vein and lymphatic conditions–The American Board of Venous and
Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM). He obtained this status in 2008 and continually maintains his certifications through conferences and didactic attendance.
Early in his career, Dr. Gioscia became a Founding Member of The Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (IMIS), where he gained valuable experience in developing and teaching cutting-edge technologies. He was intimately involved in the three-dimensional surgical technology that led to the development of the robotic-assisted DaVinci® device. This early career experience prepared him for constantly evolving techniques introduced in medicine that have markedly improved patient care and outcomes.
In 2017, The American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Review Panel approved a new treatment for varicose veins for use in the United States. Dr. Gioscia was the Sole Director and Clinical Advisor to the Belgian-based company F-Care Medical Systems. He is responsible for the technical designs and revisions that enable both diagnostic and therapeutic uses. In 2018, he began a project with Dr. Paul Pittaluga and Dr. Sylvian Chastinet from Monaco, France to develop an International Institute of Teaching, combining various techniques from around the world. The project is currently ongoing and based in America.
Recognized for his hard work in medicine, Dr. Gioscia has been recognized by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professions and Strathmore’s “Who’s Who”, both as a Lifetime Member, and has been named as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor (2019).
When it comes to caring for all types of vein conditions, ranging from cosmetic spider veins to painful and debilitating varicose veins, Dr. Gioscia has the expertise and experience that few others possess. His office-based practice is convenient and comfortable; his staff is professional, courteous, and accommodating in every manner. His office is fluent in Spanish and English in order to provide better communication to a more diverse group of patients.
