Burke recently welcomed a group of elected leaders and their representatives who met with Executive Director Scott Edelman and Burke team members. The group toured our campus where they saw first-hand the award-winning patient-centered care provided at Burke. Burke Rehabilitation had a great turnout for our Concussion Outreach Prevention Education (COPE) session at our White Plains campus.

In partnership with the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) and the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association (NYSATA), the evening featured expert presentations from Michelle Kellen, M.Ed., Dr. Bram Newman, and Haley Wilton, MS, LAT, ATC. Together, they shared the latest insights on concussion recovery, safe return-to-play protocols, and supporting students back to the classroom.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for this important conversation, and to our partners for helping raise awareness about concussion care and prevention.

Burke Rehabilitation is excited to announce Dr. Sharon Bushi, Medical Director of Care Transitions and Director of Medical Student Education, is a recipient of the Tactile Medical Cancer Rehabilitation Research Award from the Foundation for PM&R. This $10,000 pilot grant recognizes her groundbreaking work in physiatric rehabilitation and treatment for individuals living with disabilities resulting from cancer.

After a sudden fall left him unable to move, 79-year-old actor Vincent, known for his recurring role in The Sopranos, was determined to regain his independence.

With encouragement from his therapists and his own unwavering motivation, Vincent achieved goals he never thought possible, including touching his toes for the first time in 50 years.

In a recent clinical trial at Burke Rehabilitation, researchers found that ®, a digital health app developed out of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, can reliably measure multisensory integration patterns that help predict mobility outcomes like falls in older adults.

We are proud to reference CatchU findings to inform therapeutic recommendations and fall counseling in accordance with the CDC STEADI (Stopping Eldery Accidents, Deaths & Injuries) guidelines.

Burke Rehabilitation is hosting a free Concussion Outreach Prevention Education (COPE) session on November 6, 2025, from 6:30–8:00 PM at Billings - Building 4, 785 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY, in partnership with the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) and the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association (NYSATA).

Featured speakers include Michelle Kellen, M.Ed., Dr. Bram Newman, AAPMR, CAQSM, DipABLM, and Haley Wilton, MS, LAT, ATC, who will share up-to-date guidance on concussion recovery, safe return to sports, and helping students transition back to learning. October was a busy month of events at Burke!

Regeneron volunteers joined us for a Day of Doing Good, bringing with them pumpkins and art supplies to give back to our community. We also laced up for the 4th Annual Rides & Strides, bringing energy and sneaker fittings to support the Breast Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
