Join us Saturday morning! Members were emailed the zoom link earlier today. Want to join us as our guest? Send us a message with your email address and we'll forward it to you, too.

We thrilled to bring back crowd favorite Janeen Bjork for our November meeting this Saturday, Nov. 8th. See you all on the Zoom meeting Saturday! We'll start the meeting at 9:30 for some social and networking time before officially starting at 10:00. Not a member yet but interested in attending? Send us a DM for the Zoom invite. This month's newsletter to be emailed out to members only later today.
About Janeen and Saturday's presentation:
Janeen Bjork, whose maternal grandfather Pasquale "Patsy" Quadrini left Arpino, Italy for Upstate New York in 1922, wondered about the Quadrinis who settled in Mamaroneck. Although they were in multiple databases where she researched her Quadrinis, she couldn’t identify how the two families were related. Westchester County research was a start. Janeen’s two research trips to Italy, DNA testing, and a connection through a childhood playmate all contributed to her answer.
Janeen’s sister-in-law recruited her to do the Bjork family history in 2011 and commented after seeing what she was adding to the online tree, “You need to teach or write a book.” Within a year Janeen taught at the Greenwich Senior Center, and went on to speak at libraries, genealogy and historical societies, Adult Ed. Programs, women’s groups, a community college, and even a MENSA meeting. She is the author, editor, or advisor of four family history books.

Today's the day for our special Members Only presentation with Blaine Bettinger! If you didn't get the zoom invite and you very recently renewed your membership, send us a message as soon as possible so we can send you the link in time.

Mark your calendars now for our October meeting! We will be featuring The Genetic Genealogist Blaine Bettinger and his presentation on Using Autosomal DNA for 18th and 19th Century Mysteries. Even though our 18th and 19th century ancestors have been dead for decades, their DNA still survives in their descendants. Learn how to use autosomal DNA to attack and potentially solve genealogical mysteries and brick walls for ancestors who were born or lived in the 1800’s, 1700’s, and beyond.

You will not want to miss this! Blaine Bettinger, Ph.D., J.D., is a professional genealogist specializing in DNA evidence and the use of artificial intelligence for genealogical research. He is the author of the long-running blog The Genetic Genealogist, and frequently gives presentations and webinars to educate others about the use of DNA and artificial intelligence.
