Highlights from last night’s Dermatology Procedure Night! 💉🩺

Students had the opportunity to rotate through hands-on stations focused on common dermatologic procedures performed in family medicine. With guidance from family medicine residents from Wesley, Via Christi, and Smoky Hill, attendees practiced shave and punch biopsies, suturing techniques, and lesion identification.

Thank you to the residents who shared their time and expertise to help us learn!

In the sprit of Thanksgiving and giving back to our community, FMIG members had another opportunity to volunteer in the kitchen at Ronald McDonald House!

Another successful Doc-for-a-Day in the books!! 🩺💙

Doc for a Day allows high school students to experience a day in the life of a physician. Students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities including suturing, taking vitals, VR anatomy, ultrasound, and even code blue and delivery simulations.

Thank you to all of the students, volunteers, and faculty who helped make this event such a meaningful experience for the future of medicine!

Primary Care Week Day 4: Ronald McDonald House Meal 👩‍🍳

Our members came together to prepare dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House! We’re grateful for the opportunity to support families in our community and share a little warmth through a home cooked meal❤️

We kicked off primary care week with a procedure night featuring hands on learning in suturing, code blue, labor and delivery, and POCUS! A huge thank-you to everyone who came out to learn, practice, teach, and celebrate all things family medicine! 🩺

Some of our members attended the KAFP Fam Med Forward conference yesterday where they had the opportunity to expand upon their knowledge and make connections with family physicians in Kansas. 🌻⚕️

“The KAFP Fam Med Forward conference is a wonderful way for students to experience the intricacies of the profession while being surrounded by those with years of practice in the field. I would highly recommend that anyone who is considering family medicine attend not only for the networking, but also for a glimpse into the scope of practice of the front line physicians.“
