🌟 Bringing Comfort & Care to the Community! 🌟
At Wesley Children's Hospital, we’re proud to be more than just a place for healing — we’re a part of the community. Recently, our amazing Child Life team, alongside some of our dedicated pediatric nurses and nurse aids, volunteered at the newly renovated Rockwell Library (Wichita Public Library) to host a heartwarming Teddy Bear Clinic. 🧸

Through this event, we had the joy of helping nearly 50 kids from the community take care of their beloved teddy bears, teaching them the basics of health care — like putting on a bandage, checking a temperature, and more. 💉👩‍⚕️

It was a day of fun, learning and fostering a sense of comfort and trust. We hope that moments like this not only make a difference in the kids' lives but also might inspire them to explore future careers in health care! 💙

At Wesley, we believe in giving back and making a positive impact beyond our walls. This is just one of the many ways we show our dedication to excellence in care — both in and outside of the hospital. 🌱

Wesley Healthcare’s Level 1 Trauma Center and Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center recently joined WSU's Suspenders4Hope as a partner in providing Care and Hope kits to patients whose traumatic injuries may be related to mental health struggles or substance misuse.

The Care kits, made possible through a Kansas Fights Addiction grant, are part of a harm reduction approach to supporting individuals who use or misuse substances. The Hope kits, provided through a grant from KDADS, are designed to offer support and resources for individuals who may be struggling to maintain their mental health and wellness.

"We are proud to be helping with Suspenders4Hope in this community initiative," said Brendan McGreevy with Trauma Services. "We are committed to providing comprehensive trauma-informed care that addresses more than the physical injuries but also understanding the underlying causes of trauma injuries."

Thank you to the Suspenders4Hope team for leading this life-saving effort. We are happy to work alongside you!

Have you heard of ? They’re small areas of dense, rounded lung tissue that go undetected for most people, although they’re often found during imaging tests, like a CT-scan or an X-ray. While generally these nodules are not cancerous, the American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City stresses the importance of getting them checked, as they could be an early sign of lung cancer.

You may have a higher risk of developing lung nodules if you’ve had any of the following:
🦠Bacterial or viral infections
🏭Exposure to air pollution
🫁Chronic inflammatory conditions
🚬Tobacco use
🎗️Cancer

If you think you may be at risk or if you’re having symptoms, talk with your doctor or schedule an appointment with one of our experts: https://bit.ly/4r5CceH

🌼 Celebrating Excellence in Compassionate Care 🌼
We are proud to honor Cassie Layton, one of our extraordinary pediatric nurses, as a DAISY Award recipient.

Cassie was nominated by two families of young patients whose lives were tragically cut short by illness. In the midst of their unimaginable loss, Cassie became a source of strength, comfort and unwavering compassion. She stood with them through every moment, providing expert care — and more importantly — genuine humanity.

One mother described Cassie as “an angel by our side,” a testament to the profound impact she made during one of the most difficult times a family can face. Cassie represents the very best of who we are — dedication, empathy and a commitment to delivering exceptional care to every patient and family we serve.

Please join us in celebrating Cassie for embodying the excellence and heart of our hospital. 💛 Check out KSN's story on the award event: https://bit.ly/3KanP8r

Considering home health or hospice care for a loved one? Our larger HCA Healthcare network offers & Family Care services, supporting patients and their loved ones at nearly 90 hospitals and their surrounding communities. Through these services, we provide care specifically tailored to meet the delicate needs of those facing a terminal illness who, rather than continuing to undergo curative treatment, would prefer to live comfortably and peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.

This National Home Care and Hospice Month, we’re honored to recognize the meaningful work of the nurses, therapists, aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers who serve our hospice and home health patients and their families. Thank you for providing patients with the physical, emotional and spiritual support they need, with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Every tiny heartbeat tells a mighty story. 💜

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our larger HCA Healthcare network – and some arrive earlier than expected. According to March of Dimes, about 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. This means they enter the world before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

This , we’re celebrating our tiniest patients and the incredible caregivers at Wesley Medical Center who support them and their families. As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care.
