the American Cancer Society reports that colorectal cancer is increasing by 2% each year in people ages 50-54 and in those younger than 50? The good news is that simple steps can help lower your risk. We're sharing five ways to start protecting your health today.

We’re proud to be part of our broader HCA Healthcare system of care, where caregivers at Sarah Cannon Cancer Network treat more than 130,000 cancer patients each year. That expertise means if screening ever leads to a diagnosis, you’ll have access to coordinated care and guidance from trusted cancer specialists.

At Wesley Healthcare, care is personal — and our therapy pet volunteers help make that clear every day.

For eight years, volunteer Lori Montgomery-Noblitt and her Yorkshire terrier, Sophie, have brought comfort and connection to people across Wesley. The pair are a familiar presence in pediatrics, oncology and other care areas, with a special focus on pediatric sedation and infusion, the pediatric ICU and Wesley Children's Hospital.

Sophie is licensed through Therapy Dog International, and together she and Lori help support a more positive experience for those in our care. They were also recently added to Wesley’s No One Dies Alone program, providing comfort and companionship to end-of-life patients who do not have family present.

We are grateful for volunteers like Lori and Sophie, who help support healing in meaningful ways for both those we care for and our colleagues.

On Monday mornings, Lori Montgomery-Noblitt shampoos, blow dries and dresses her Yorkshire Terrier therapy dog, Sophie, and they set out for a full day of hospital visits.

Happy Doctors’ Day! Today, we’re celebrating the doctors who show up for our community with skill, compassion and teamwork.

Inspired by the energy and unity of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this year’s Doctors’ Day theme — One Team. One Goal. — reflects what makes care at Wesley Healthcare so exceptional.

Every day, more than 1,200 physicians and advanced practice providers across our organization work together toward a shared goal: delivering outstanding, compassionate care to every patient we serve. Like any great team, success comes from collaboration, trust, and a commitment to excellence — values our providers bring to their work each and every day.

"While our gratitude for our physicians and providers is something we carry with us year-round, Doctors’ Day offers a special opportunity to pause and celebrate the incredible individuals who make this work possible," said Kaleigh Porchia, associate vice president of Provider Relations & Outreach.

Happy 17th birthday, Sawyer! 🎉 From a life-threatening sledding accident that left him with severe head injuries to celebrating a milestone birthday today — Sawyer’s story is one of strength, resilience and the power of exceptional care.

Earlier this year, Sawyer received lifesaving care at Wesley Children’s Hospital where he was treated for a traumatic brain injury. His journey included intensive care, surgery and rehabilitation. Sawyer is now back home attending school, cheering on his team and working toward getting back on the baseball field. Thanks to the expertise of our trauma, PICU and pediatric teams — and the determination of one incredible patient — Sawyer is getting closer every day to the activities he loves.

“His recovery is nothing short of a miracle, but we know that it would not have been possible without the amazing team who worked so hard to save his life," said his mother, Baylee Ehrhart, a nurse practitioner herself. "Thank you for keeping our boy here with us."

Today, we’re honored to celebrate a very special moment with Sawyer and his family. Your strength inspires us all, and we’re so grateful to have been part of your journey. 💙

Dr. Mohammed Hussain is the kind of doctor other physicians look up to.

In a post from the Medical Society of Sedgwick County, Ali Rafiq, MD, shared why Dr. Hussain — medical director of Stroke Services for Wesley Healthcare — inspires him most: “I’ve never seen anyone more dedicated to patient care than him.”

That dedication is backed by Wesley's Comprehensive Stroke Center designation and robust neuroscience program for patients who need neurological care.

Work began in January to methodically and carefully dismantle the nearly 50-year-old public parking garage at Wesley Medical Center adjacent to the Medical Arts Tower. On Monday this week, the structure was finally demolished, and workers began hauling away the debris.

When complete, this $65 million investment will significantly enhance how patients and visitors access our hospital, delivering:
✔️ 1,359 parking spaces — 466 more than today
✔️ 20 dedicated motorcycle spaces
✔️ A new atrium lobby and main hospital entrance, creating a clearer, more accessible path into the hospital from both the garage and Hillside Street.

While construction will take approximately 18 months and require temporary adjustments to traffic and parking, the long-term impact is meaningful: a more accessible, modern campus that better supports patients, families, and the care teams who serve them.

This project reflects our commitment to continuously investing in the patient experience — removing barriers, improving access and ensuring our campus meets the needs of the community today and into the future. Check out the video from KWCH 12 News this week! https://bit.ly/3PuS9No

Wesley Healthcare proudly celebrates Certified Nurses Day – a day dedicated to honoring certified nurses across our broader HCA Healthcare network. These exceptional professionals set the standard by mentoring others, elevating patient care and bringing knowledge and compassion to every interaction.

"We are proud of the work we do as forensic nurses by providing compassionate care, advocacy and a voice for patients when they need it most," said Megan Meier, RN, a Wesley forensic nurse examiner who has both SANE-A and SANE-P certifications that signify expertise in sexual assault medical forensic care. "Being able to help guide patients toward healing, and to be one of the first compassionate contacts after significant trauma, is one of the most meaningful parts of forensic nursing."

To all of our certified nurses, thank you for your advanced expertise, commitment to excellence and dedication to delivering the highest quality of care to every patient. Your impact is felt across our network and in every life you touch.
