✨ Excellence in Compassion and Community ✨
This holiday season, our pediatric patients experienced a little extra magic thanks to the The 501st Legion – Great Plains Squad. Dressed as iconic Star Wars characters, these dedicated volunteers brought smiles, laughter and unforgettable moments to Wesley Children’s Hospital during their recent visit.

The 501st Legion is an all-volunteer organization that combines a love of Star Wars with a deep commitment to giving back — using costumed visits and charity events to uplift communities. They visit our hospital several times each year, and we’re thrilled to share that five visits are already planned for next year.

Moments like these remind us that exceptional care goes beyond medicine — it’s about compassion, connection and making every child feel special. 💙
Thank you, 501st Legion, for being part of our mission to create brighter days for our patients and families!

When seconds matter, expertise makes the difference. 💙

On July 3, 2024, following the delivery of his routine weather forecast, KWCH meteorologist Jake Dunne suddenly experienced dizziness, vision loss and severe nausea — signs of a serious neurological emergency. He was rushed to Wesley Medical Center, where our Neurotrauma team quickly stepped in to provide advanced, lifesaving care for stroke-like symptoms.

Behind the familiar face Wichita knows is a powerful journey — one that spans multiple states and reflects the life-changing impact of timely, expert health care. Stories like Dunne's highlight the dedication, innovation and teamwork of our colleagues who show up every day ready to care for our community when it matters most.

We’re proud to be part of Dunne's journey and honored to provide care that reaches far beyond our walls. 🔗 Read the full story in the Hutch Post: https://bit.ly/49t5Io1

This Christmas, compassion made all the difference. ❤️

At Wesley Healthcare, care does not end when a patient leaves the exam room. Our Forensic Nursing team exemplified that commitment by stepping forward to support a family during one of the most devastating times of their lives — transforming hardship into hope and ensuring that compassion remained at the center of healing.

The team stepped up to support a local family after an incredibly difficult year, adopting them for Christmas and providing toys, clothing, books and self-care items for a mother and her four children.

The team often meets patients on the worst days of their lives — but this holiday season, they were able to bring comfort, dignity and joy, reminding a family that they are cared for beyond the walls of a hospital, and that they are not alone.

We are proud of our colleagues who go beyond the bedside to support healing, hope and humanity in our community. Thank you for all you do!

💙 Excellence in Care Goes Beyond the Bedside 💙
This week, our pediatric patients were surprised with a special visit from Wichita Thunder hockey players who delivered teddy bears and stuffed animals from their annual Teddy Bear Toss. 🧸

Moments like these remind us that healing is about more than medical care — it’s about connection, comfort and community. By bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of normalcy to children facing health challenges, the Wichita Thunder helped make a meaningful difference in our patients’ days.

We’re grateful to our community partners who share our commitment to compassionate care and helping every child feel supported — especially during the holiday season. Special thanks to Thunder players Declan Smith, Tian Rask and TJ Lloyd along with Thunder staff Ashlynn Shinn, Madison Vian and Samantha Zawadzki for the holiday cheer!

✨ Together, we make healing brighter.

We are proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone at Wesley Healthcare — the Interventional Radiology team has successfully performed 500 VTE procedures, making this program one the largest in the state and one of the most well-structured VTE programs across the HCA Healthcare network.

The VTE program, which refers to a condition called venous thromboembolism, involves a procedure that uses advanced imaging guidance to treat blood clots in the veins.

This achievement reflects the exceptional expertise, innovation and dedication of our interventional radiology colleagues, who continue to deliver high-quality, life-changing care for patients facing venous thromboembolism.

Wesley Medical Center's program not only improves patient outcomes but also strengthens our hospital and serves as a critical resource for the community we are proud to care for.

👏 Congratulations to the entire Interventional Radiology team for setting the standard for excellence and advancing patient care every day!
