Every tiny heartbeat tells a mighty story. 💜

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our larger HCA Healthcare network – and some arrive earlier than expected. According to March of Dimes, about 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. This means they enter the world before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

This , we’re celebrating our tiniest patients and the incredible caregivers at Wesley Medical Center who support them and their families. As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care.

During Imaging Technologies Week, we celebrate the incredible contributions of our colleagues. Imaging technologists are vital members of our care teams who ensure every image tells the story of a patient's journey. 🎃 Tiny Costumes, Big Hearts: Celebrating Our NICU Babies’ First Halloween 🎃
We’re a little late sharing these pictures — but they’re just too adorable to keep to ourselves! Our tiniest patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) celebrated their very first Halloween in style, thanks to the creativity and compassion of our incredible NICU nurses and staff.

Each costume may be small, but the meaning behind this moment is huge. For families spending this special milestone in the NICU, these little touches of joy bring comfort, connection and hope. It’s a beautiful reflection of the dedication, innovation and heart our NICU team brings to every patient, every day.

Premature babies — born before 37 weeks or with special health needs — require around-the-clock expert care to help them grow stronger each day. About 1 in 10 infants in the U.S. begin their journey in the NICU, where our specialized team provides vital support with breathing, feeding and development until they’re ready to go home.

💜 To our extraordinary NICU team: Thank you for transforming care into compassion, and for reminding us that even the smallest patients can make the biggest impact.

🎃 Bringing Halloween Magic to Our Littlest Patients 🧡
At Wesley Healthcare, excellence in care means more than medical expertise — it’s about compassion, connection and creating moments of joy.

This Halloween, our incredible team brought smiles and laughter to our pediatric patients during our 2025 Pediatric Halloween Rounding event! 👻✨ Departments across the hospital volunteered to dress up and deliver Halloween goodies — from toys and bubbles to stickers and craft kits — to children spending Halloween in the hospital.

These small gestures reflect our patient-centered care philosophy and our deep commitment to giving generously to the people we serve. Watching our young patients light up with excitement reminded us why we do what we do every day. 💜

Thank you to all the teams who made this day so special — your dedication and creativity truly make a difference!

Crushing the crisis, year after year!
We're thrilled to announce the incredible success of our annual "Crush the Crisis" event this past Saturday, Oct. 25! Thanks to our community's efforts, we safely collected 159 pounds of unused and expired medications — that's 45 more pounds than last year!

Since we first participated in 2019, we've been dedicated to fighting the opioid crisis and keeping harmful drugs out of the wrong hands and our waterways.

A HUGE thank you to the Wesley Pharmacy team and the Wichita Police Department for their coordination of this event. And thanks to everyone who dropped off their medications! Your participation makes our community safer.

Did you know the Wesley Pharmacy team has dispensed more than 3.5 million medication doses in the past 12 months? This month, we celebrate Pharmacy Week and acknowledge the amazing work of our pharmacist specialists, pharmacist coordinators, advanced clinical pharmacists, operational pharmacists, pharmacy technician coordinators, pharmacy technician specialists, pharmacy technicians, buyer, interns, PGY1 residents, PGY2 critical care resident, and pharmacy managers.

🐝A few days ago, Pharmacy staff held a medication spelling bee just for fun. Congrats to Pharmacist Derick Gross, who won with the word "posaconazole." Way to go, Derick!

🌟 Celebrating our Emergency Nurses🌟

This October, we proudly celebrate our Emergency Nurses, honoring the incredible nurses who stand on the front lines of care when every second counts.

Emergency nurses are highly skilled, compassionate professionals who bring calm to chaos and expertise to every critical moment. From trauma care to life-saving interventions, they blend precision, resilience, and empathy to guide patients and families through their most urgent experiences.

At Wesley Healthcare, we believe in a nurse-forward approach — because when we support our nurses, we strengthen outcomes for our patients, families and entire emergency department teams.

Our emergency nurses are the heart and soul of our ER. Their dedication and courage inspire us every day, and we honor their unwavering commitment to excellence in care. 💙

Prescription drug abuse remains a critical drug problem across the United States, affecting all age groups. According to the DEA, pain relievers are the most commonly misused prescription drug by those over the age of 12. Community members can play a vital role in reducing prescription drug misuse by disposing of expired or unnecessary prescription drugs.

On Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, help us by cleaning out your medicine cabinet and safely disposing of medications that may be left over from previous procedures or other medical visits. Local law enforcement officers will be onsite at Wesley Medical Center to accept your medications — and you don't even have to leave your vehicle. Just pull up to our collection site between 10 am. and 2 p.m. under the canopy of the employee parking garage at 650 N. Rutan St.
