As Women’s History Month comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about the women who came before me; the ones who created opportunities, broke barriers, and carried strength in ways that made space for all of us today.

Their legacy didn’t just open doors, it set a standard.

And now, it’s our turn.

Not just to walk through those doors, but to build something meaningful with our lives, our health, and our purpose.

I carry their strength with me.

And I’m intentional about how I show up: for myself, for my family, and for the next generation watching.

Because legacy isn’t just what we inherit. It’s what we choose to build.

If you’re committed to building a legacy of health, strength, and purpose, comment “I’m building.” 💛

As we come to the end of this month, I’ve been taking a moment to reflect — not just on accomplishments, but on my health.

How have I been feeling? Have I been resting enough? Have I been listening to my body… or pushing past it?

So often, we move from one goal to the next without pausing to evaluate what’s happening internally.

But reflection is where awareness begins — and awareness is what allows us to make better decisions for our health.

This Women’s History Month has been a powerful reminder that taking care of ourselves is part of the legacy we’re building.

And for me, faith plays a role in that too — taking time to be still, to reset, and to realign.

What’s one thing you want to improve about your health going into next month? Drop it below. 💛

There comes a point where you have to make a decision.

Will you continue sacrificing your health to maintain expectations…
or will you redefine success on your own terms?

I’ve had to make that decision myself.

Because success that costs you your peace, your sleep, your hormones, and your overall well-being is not sustainable.

And more importantly — it’s not necessary.

You are allowed to prioritize your health.
You are allowed to set boundaries.
You are allowed to succeed without self-neglect.

Today, I’m standing firmly in this:

I refuse to sacrifice my health for success.

If you’re standing in that with me, I want you to declare it out loud.

Drop it in the comments: “I choose sustainable success.”

I’ve worked with high-achieving women long enough to recognize a pattern.

On the outside, everything looks successful.
The career is thriving.
The responsibilities are handled.
The goals are being met.

But underneath that success, there’s often exhaustion.

Chronic fatigue.
Brain fog.
Interrupted sleep.
Hormonal shifts that feel confusing and frustrating.

Burnout doesn’t always look like stopping. Sometimes it looks like pushing through… at a cost.

And here’s the truth I’ve had to learn myself: high achievement should never come at the expense of your health.

Sustainable leadership requires boundaries.
It requires rest.
It requires delegation.
And it absolutely requires preventive care.

You don’t have to choose between success and well-being. You can build both — intentionally.

So let me ask you this: where are you currently overextending yourself?

Let’s talk about it in the comments. 💛

One of the most powerful things about health is that it can become part of our legacy.

The habits we model — how we eat, move, manage stress, and care for ourselves — are often the same habits the next generation learns.

Our children are watching.
Our families are learning from what we practice.

When we prioritize wellness, we’re not just investing in our own health. We’re shaping the culture of health for the generations that follow.

This Women’s History Month, I’m reflecting on the legacy of strength and wisdom passed down through the women before us — and the example we’re setting for those coming after us.

So I’d love to hear from you.

What’s one healthy habit you hope to pass down to the next generation?

Many of us are moving through life in a constant state of stress without even realizing it.

Our nervous systems were designed to respond to short moments of stress, but when we stay in that state for too long, it begins to impact our sleep, hormones, energy levels, and overall health.

The good news is that small daily practices can help regulate and reset the nervous system.

Deep breathing.
Stepping outside for a short walk.
Taking intentional breaks from screens.
Practicing gratitude.

These moments may seem simple, but they create powerful shifts in how the body processes stress.

Today, choose one small practice to help your body reset.

Which one are you trying today?

One of the most powerful tools we have in medicine is early detection.

Screenings allow us to identify potential health concerns long before symptoms appear, which means we can intervene earlier and improve outcomes.

Simple screenings like mammograms, Pap smears, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol tests can make a significant difference in long-term health.

But many women delay these appointments because life gets busy, responsibilities pile up, and our own health becomes easy to postpone.

Consider this your gentle reminder: your health deserves attention before there’s a crisis.

If you’re due for a screening, schedule the appointment.

And if this post reminds you of someone you care about, share it with them too.

Preventive care saves lives.

Somewhere along the way, burnout became something people almost brag about.

“I’m exhausted.”
“I’m working nonstop.”
“I haven’t taken a break in weeks.”

But exhaustion is not a badge of honor.

Chronic stress doesn’t just impact your mood — it affects your hormones, your immune system, your blood pressure, and your long-term health.

One of the most powerful health decisions we can make is learning how to set boundaries.

Boundaries protect your energy.
Boundaries protect your peace.
And boundaries protect your health.

So today I want to ask you something honestly:

Where do you need a boundary right now — work, relationships, or your time?

Let’s talk about it in the comments.

Heart disease is the leading health threat for women, and many people are surprised to learn that Black women are at even higher risk.

Conditions like hypertension and cardiovascular disease often develop quietly over time — long before symptoms appear.

That’s why prevention matters so much.

Small daily habits can have a powerful impact on your long-term health:
moving your body regularly,
managing stress,
keeping up with annual checkups,
and knowing your blood pressure numbers.

Your heart works hard for you every single day. Taking care of it is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.

Today, I’m curious — what’s one thing you’re doing to support your heart health right now?

Share it below so we can encourage each other.

For a long time, many women were taught to put everyone else first.

Care for the family.
Show up for work.
Carry the responsibilities.
And somewhere along the way, our own health moved to the bottom of the list.

But I’ve learned something important: your health is not negotiable.

Not your rest.
Not your peace.
Not your annual checkups.
Not the boundaries that protect your well-being.

When we prioritize our health, we’re not being selfish — we’re being responsible stewards of the life we’ve been given.

Today I’m standing firmly in this truth.

My health is non-negotiable.

If you’re claiming that for yourself too, say it with me in the comments: “My health is non-negotiable.”

One of the most common things I hear from women is this:

“I’m just tired.”
“I think it’s stress.”
“I guess this is just part of getting older.”

But sometimes, it’s not just stress.

Our hormones regulate so much more than many people realize — energy, sleep, mood, metabolism, and even how our bodies handle stress. When those systems are out of balance, the body will start sending signals.

Irregular cycles.
Persistent fatigue.
Mood swings.
Sleep disruptions.

As a physician, I also know that Black women are often underdiagnosed when it comes to hormone-related conditions. Too often our symptoms are minimized or dismissed.

So here’s my encouragement to you: listen to your body.

If something feels off, ask the question. Request the labs. Advocate for yourself.

You deserve answers, and you deserve care that takes your health seriously.

Have you ever had to advocate for yourself in a medical setting? I’d love to hear your experience.
