The Fat Guys were planning on a lunch break at an Asian cuisine restaurant in Wilbraham this week. When we got there we realized they were closed on Tuesdays so wr looked what was near by. Due to this we stumbled upon 468 Main street in Wilbraham, Ma. This is of course Pafumi's. We were very surprised at how empty the dinning area was on this charming and elevated dinning establishment. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly, patient, and attentive. Their prices were reasonable. We started with $10 meatballs plate. This served 4 on a square plate filled with a rich, homemade, chunky sauce. This sauce had a little hint of spiciness and a rich deep and fresh series of italian herbs and spices. The tomatos were amazing as well and a little sweet. The meatballs themselves were bigger than golf balls. They had a thuroughly cooked tender texture. They were some of the best meatballs we have ever had and we both agreed we could go and just order meatballs over and over all day. This is not to say the other food was not good either because things only got better. We ordered a 14" (which was actually bigger than that) General Mandarin's Pizza. This was brilliant as we had originally planned on the Mandarin restaurant itself. This pizza is mage with fresh brocolli florettes, chicken chunks, and real delicous cheese over The Mandarin's General Gao's sauce in place of the traditional red or white sauce. The pizza dough did not have a gum layer and was exceptionally made. The bottom was cooked perfectly and had that vice crisp but droopy quality and light seasoning. The outer crust was a perfect mid level if puffiness with a crisp but chewy outside and airy inside. The sweet sauce, amazing dough, and brilliant ex*****on exemplifies how puzza should be executed. This puzza cost $22. Our total bill including 2 sodas was $38 and change. For 2 people to eat, have drinks, split an appetizer and leave full and struggling to go bacj to work and nor into food comas is litterally why we do this. Make sure to check them out in person as they earn 4.5 FATBELLIES as a rating. Also feel free to check thwm online at the links below.

Recently the Fat Guys went to 480 Granby Rd, South Hadley, MA 01075 to enjoy Thai Place. This charming and highly intriguing restaurant is truly special. The atmosphere is charming and delightful yet elevated. The staff lead by the amazing Smon, took care of us personally and was funny, thoughtful, and we felt like we made a new friend. He entertained us and even shared his famous singing! Absolutely the best service we have had in recent history.
First we had the Bangkok Ravioli for $11.99. This had a soft delicous encasement covering plentiful crispy chicken dumpling filling. It was served with housemade sweet soy sauce that was more tart than most and really delicous. Next were the (not so mini)Mini Thai Rolls for $11.99. These were prepared with rich ground pork, small carrot pieces, smooth black mushrooms, and tender vermicelli noodles. Finally we esch got an order of Pho for $18.60. This noodle soup had thin almost sweet incredibly soft rice noodles. These were soaking in a relaxing seasoned beef broth that soothed us as we consumed it. It was seasoned with flagrant cilantro, zesty lime juice and tender bean sprouts. There was a choice of proteins and our beef choice was amazing. The pieces were large, thin, tender high grade meat. This was not just a massive bowl of food but an emotionsl journey through a bowl of layers of enrichment garunteed to leave you full and content. Overall we were very impressed and look foreward to our next trip there. They score 4.5 FATBELLIES as a rating and we strongly encourage you to get down there and enjoy this excellent food and experience. Feel free to check them out in person or their links below...

Recently the FATGUYS went to a memory. Thst is a place fron years sho invoking strong memories. Seeing the table top juke boxes and the shinny metal wslls, or the 1950s counter/bar and classic booths, even the small swing door by the register harkins memories and invokes the 1954 heritage of Zip's diner located at 725 Hartford Pike, Dayville, CT 06241. The staff here is relaxed in uniform but big in heart. They truely create the everyone is local and an old friend here. While we miss those times and people of our youth sadly Zips did have a few hiccups we will get to below. We started with their stuffed French toast. This is a new offering for $9.95. It claims to have 2 slices of Texas Feench toast. These were deffinately not the thickness of a Texas toast at all. They resembled regular generic white bread. Between the slices were amazing cooked apples that were lightly sugared and very delicous. They do change the fruit to seasons however so ask if this is a concern. On top was a drizzled sweet cream cheese frosting. This was quite good as well. All together however there were some things that would make this plate much better. True Texas toast or stuffed slices of it qould be a huge piece of the puzzle. More of the cream cheese frosting so both slices had it would be ideal. This was basically a cooked apple sandwhich with frosting on top. Also as with everything I will be describing below; it was barely warm.
Next was the $10.95 Zip's Slam. This had 2 scrambled eggs that while not particularly bad tadted very flavorless and while had random swirled strands really remind us of powdered eggs. The 2 French toast slices were thin basic bread slices, luke warm and a little soggy. They were not bad but simply exceptable. The two bacon strips were chewy and decently flavored however they missed the grease factor truely great bacon has. The two sausage patties too followed this trend of being exceptable greaseless, and room temperature. They did have a hint of a nice spicy kick which we appreciated though. Overall the food was par, the staff rather good, the atmosphere filled with memories and nostslgia, the prices very reasonsble; yet the quality level, portion size, and temperatures all could use improvement do Zips earns an above average 3 FATBELLIES rating but could raise that level. Recently the Fatguys went to 50 Jaffrey Rd, Peterborough, NH 03458 to try a truely amazing restaurant. This is Kogetsu at the Boiler House. This place has a very special charm feeling high brow and shoeibg hints of its Asian influences without being tacky. The view is second to none as well. We sat adjacent to a wall of windows facing a beautiful waterfall. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and very friendly. While the portions could have been a little bigger the prices were very reasonable especially for food of this quality. The beef and brocolli dinner special was first. This is going to cost $15.95. It was served with an amazing scoop of white rice. This was really amazing. It was not sticky and each grain was soft yet somehow easily able to distinguish each medium link grain of rice. The egg roll it came with was yet another elevation of food.

It was about an inch and a half in diameter. It had a nice balance crisp but moist crust. Then the filling was soft and well blended. This had a homemade duck sauce that was like no other. It was viscous yet had a depth of seasoning and flavor eclipsing even a much thick version elsewhere. The brocolli was fresh and almost as the same texture of a baked apple. The beef was so rich and soft it melted in your mouth. Each piece was large around the size of a silver dollar and fairly thuck yet was able to be eaten almost as if it was apasta noodle. The tenderness was like ndothing I have ever eaten.

The dinner special chicken pad Thai redefined what a noodle could feel like as you ate it. It was similar in texture to an ultra soft angel hair pasta yet rich in flavor upon the rice noodles and seasonings. It was soft yet did not stick together. The bean sprouts, chives, crushed peanuts, and garlic chives were all amazing and fresh. This was the best pad Thai I have ever eaten and easily among the best of any meal I have ever eaten. It was strong yet subtle and well balanced. The textures and flavors were second to none. This came with tbw same type of egg roll and a scoop of pork fried rice. This rice took the same style concept of long grain rice yet added vegtable pieces and more flavor depth. This plate cost $15.95. This entire experience took food we all thought we knew yet took them to levels of quality and flavor no one else could. They easily earn 4.5 FATBELLIES as a rating. The Fat Guys went north during the recent storms to a charming old New England town to try The Dublin General Store located at 1257 Main St, Dublin, NH 03444. Step inside this frontier style delight to find amazing food and friendly people.
We decided to sample a few things. First was their rueben. They offer several options including but not limited to corn beef and moist pastrami. This time we elected to have the pastrami reuben. This had a healthy amount of pastrami. It then added a touch of fresh swiss cheese(we like more cheese always.) On this was a mountain of tangy sauerkraut. The unique thousand island finished this off just under their rye-pumpernickel bread slices of commercial loaf sizes.the sandwhich was lightly toasted, excrutiatingly messy, and fairly filling. This costs. $9.95 which while not a bargain price is far from expensive. Next was their famous Brisket Bomb for $11.95. This had a planet of brisket. It was softer morw like philly cheese steak meat. It had mouth watering carmelized onions that were juicy. It was done the way we like it with a happy quantity of mayonaise. They had subtle and honestly not enough provolone cheese in here as well. This was all done on an overfilled approximately 6" homemade grinder roll.
They use chubbys bbq sauce for the brisket and were very understanding about food allergy concerns. This sandwhich was more than a mouthful. The bread was crisp crust with soft fresh fluffy dough beneath. Of course being of the Fat Guy Mindset we could not stop there. We had to try their famous giant cookies. The cookies got our attention as we Fat Guys love cookies. The chocalate chip was first. We have a confession we had to take these home. I sttongly suggest you do and warm them in yhe toaster. If you do this these massive thick cookies become perfection. The massive chocalate chip ones were first. These were the size of a common salad bowl. They were also an inch thick! They were packed with chocalate chips and the dough was rich. These were one of the best anywhere. The next was the special Cranberry oatmeal cookies with (white) chocalate chips. Somehow they mixed the dough so that the oatmeal was not overwhelming. It was so well balanced it made me fall inlive with a cookie. The cranberries and chocalate were plentiful and sweet but not overpowering either. It was a great amazing treat. Last was the molasses cookie.
This moist, bittersweet, heartwarming classic was
Chewy, soft and tender inside, had a crispy sugar-coated crackled exterior and edges, this combined with the rich deep flavor from molasses, and warm spicy notes of ginger, cinnamon, and clove, created a nostalgic, comforting treat. These were $3.00 each. Overall this amazing place; in an equally amazing small classic New England town was truly special and made us feel like we stepped back in time. Theu score a well above average 3.5 FATBELLIES as a rating. For more information pleasr do yourself a favor and take a ride out there or check out their link below...

The Fatguys would like to share a moment of schadenfreude with all of you faithful readers of our reviews. This week the Fatguys found an absolute gem however this was due to coworker discussing it's immenent closure due to the owner's retirement. This wonderful quaint place had some curiosities however none of these meant anything once we put that savory, moist, and delicous food in our mouths. Welcome to 1782 Westover Rd, Chicopee, MA 01020. Welcome to Chicken Queen!
First if all the prices were very fair. They also offer a buy one get one half off option! The owner was amazingly friendly and open with us.
Apparently this is a Chicopee staple we somehow missed for decades. They do not offer great parking , nor do they offer seating anymore, however none of that matters. They slow rotisserie roast their amazing chicken in a way that produces some of the best we have ever had.
The first part of our order was a fantastic 3 piece meal that had a half breast, a thigh, and a drum stick for $12.99. This was served with corn and mash potatos with gravy. While we appreciated the potatos being chunky and clearly homemade they were a little dry and flavorless. The gravy did negate some of this however. A little more butter or salt woukd have helped. The corn was fine. The chicken itself has some flavor roasted into it we couldnt rightfully identify but it made the chicken have an almost marinated status. It was so tender it simply fell off the bones. The portions while not massuve were more than fair. This also came witha packaged butter and dinner roll that worked well together.
Next was the stuffed boneless breast dinner. This was a de-boned breast meat wrapped with
a portion of stuffing that was flavored with what tasted like rosemary and it was moist and delicous. It then added a light amount of their rich, savory, special gravy. It also had a choice of two side items which ee added more stuffing and mashed with gravy. They did not give us the
cranberry sauce that was advertized to be included however. This meat was so special and i cannot recall the last tine i enjoyed chicken so much. This plate cost us
$13.60. Last but not least was their $7.15 "real" chicken sandwich. This was unlike any other we have had. It was on a daily housemade soft half grinder roll with a light crispy crust. Then it had crisp lettuce, juicy tomato slices, a rich viscous mayonaise cream, the skinned amazing rotissarie chicken and more.Overall the food was very good, the prices were as well, and the service was almost like talking to a long lost friend. Make sure you go to this 4 FATBELLIES rated restaurant before their last day on December 24th. For more information check them out in person or below...
