Hirschsprung’s Disease Awareness Month
🎉 🎊 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊
🩷 Hirschsprung’s disease occurs in about 1 out of 5,000 births. It is three to four times more common in males.
💙 There’s no cure for Hirschsprung’s disease, but surgical treatments often result in a positive outcome.
🧡Types of Hirschsprung Disease
🟢Short-Segment Hirschsprung Disease:
This is the most common form, with nerve cells missing from the re**um and sometimes the lower part of the large intestine.
🟡Long-Segment Hirschsprung Disease:
This type affects a longer portion of the large intestine than short-segment disease but does not involve the entire colon.
🔵Total Colonic Hirschsprung Disease:
In this rare, severe form, the entire large intestine lacks nerve cells, but the small intestine has them.
🟣Small Intestinal Hirschsprung Disease:
This very rare type extends the aganglionosis into the small intestine.
🔴Total Intestinal Hirschsprung Disease:
The most extensive and severe form, where nerve cells are missing from the entire large intestine and nearly all of the small intestine.
❣️Gunner has Total Intestinal HD❣️
