Metal Element & the Season of Fall

In ancient traditions, the Metal element corresponds to the season of Fall, a time of letting go, refinement, and inner reflection. Just as trees release their leaves, this season invites us to release what no longer serves us and return to what is essential.

Metal governs the lungs and large intestine, organs responsible for both inspiration and elimination—physically and emotionally. Breath becomes a central focus, connecting us to clarity, discernment, and the courage to create healthy boundaries.

Emotionally, Metal relates to grief, but also to the ability to process and transform it, cultivating reverence, integrity, and resilience. It reminds us that in shedding, there is strength—and in stillness, renewal.

As we align with this season in our yoga practice, we can reflect on:

What am I ready to release?

What brings me deeper clarity or meaning?

How can I breathe more fully—into my body, into this moment?

The Poetry of Metal – A Reflection for Fall

As summer exhales its final breath, we enter the quiet elegance of Fall—the season of Metal, where nature begins to pare back to its essence.

Metal teaches us the art of refinement—to sift through experience like gold through the pan, keeping only what is precious. The trees let go of their leaves, not in loss, but in wisdom. So too, we are asked:
What is no longer mine to carry?

This element dwells in the lungs and large intestine, guardians of breath and release. The inhale draws in what nourishes; the exhale offers up what is ready to leave. In every breath, a sacred exchange—receiving with reverence, releasing with grace.

Fall carries the whisper of grief, not as sorrow alone, but as testimony to what we have loved and lived. Grief polishes the soul like Metal—making us clearer, more honest, more whole.

In our practice, we bow to this season of discernment and dignity.
We move with intention.
We breathe with presence.
We soften into stillness and remember:
In letting go, we find our shape.

In emptiness, there is space for light.

💃🏻 🕺🏽This course is intended to help massage therapists broaden their techniques to include use of forearms on any area of the body, enliven their massage practice by learning a completely new sequence, and also save their hands from repetitive use injuries.
Elements of this course can be added to any massage sequence.
These techniques are generally for clients who enjoy firm pressure and deep tissue massage, however pressure can be modified as needed.

🌻Just 2 spots left!

🌻7 NCBTMB APPROVED HOURS

🌻An introduction to pregnancy massage, or as a refresher course for those who have had training but would like to gain more confidence in their approach.

🌻In this course students will learn basic pregnancy massage techniques, and about pregnancy massage cautions and contraindications.

🌻Research shows pregnancy massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

🌻For the therapist, offering pregnancy massage can be a wonderful way to gain more clients and help women feel their best during pregnancy.

🌻We will give and receive nurturing massage throughout the day.

🌻My goal is that each for CE class I teach, since beginning offering CEs in 2016, students leave refreshed and energized for their massage therapy practice. I hope to foster not just learning, but also self care, community and fun!

In this Earth Element centered yoga workshop we will focus on cultivating the mind-body connection though gentle movement and breath, for all levels of yoga experience. Listening to the body, we will lean into to the essence of our own personal yoga practice, and explore creative ways to establish a unique consistent home practice. This time of year, Late Summer & the Earth Element relates to transformation, grounding, nourishment and stability.
In movement, the Earth element invites us to come home to our bodies. It’s about grounding, centering, and nourishing ourselves through slow, intentional practice. Just as the Earth holds and supports all life, our practice during late summer can emphasize stability, balance, and the connection between body and breath.
This is a time to explore movements that draw us inward—think rooted standing postures, soft twists to support digestion, and gentle core work to connect to the center (our energetic hara). Transitions can be slower, more mindful, allowing space to feel the weight of the body through the feet and into the earth.
As we move, we can ask:
What grounds me?
Where do I feel most supported?
How can I return to center—physically, emotionally, spiritually?
By honoring the Earth element, we cultivate inner stability and a deeper sense of belonging—within ourselves, and in the world around us. Let me know your thoughts and please come join us!
