Testosterone is often labeled a “male hormone,” but all bodies, women and men, need it for brain, nerve, and metabolic health. Its role in multiple sclerosis is still being studied.
Here’s the current science:
• Small clinical trials in men with progressive MS showed reduced brain atrophy and improved walking speed
• Observational studies link lower testosterone levels with greater disability (association, not causation)
• Preclinical research suggests testosterone may support remyelination and neuroprotection
What’s missing:
• Large clinical trials
• Proof that testosterone modifies MS disease activity
Bottom line:
Hormone therapy is not a treatment for MS, but addressing true hormone deficiencies (in women and men) may support quality of life, energy, and neurological resilience when done thoughtfully and individually.
At Extraordinary Wellness, we use evidence, not trends, to guide care.
