For over 25 years, OPT Therapy Services has partnered with Delaware schools and districts to provide exceptional occupational and physical therapy for children with developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and deaf-blindness. Our dedicated, licensed therapists work directly in school environments, delivering compassionate, individualized care that supports student success, empowers families, and strengthens educational partnerships across the state.

1️⃣ Deep pressure “sandwich” with pillows
2️⃣ Heavy work tasks (carrying books, pushing laundry basket)
3️⃣ Predictable visual schedule

Strong IEP goals are specific, functional, and measurable.

Here’s one quick example of a strong OT goal:

➡️ “Students will use a functional grasp to write a 3-word sentence with 80% accuracy.”

Today, we're offering ideas for some fun Standing Straw Games (kitchen-table friendly)!

Here's how to play: Use a straw to move pom-poms or candy pieces from plate to cup. Adjust table height so the head looks slightly down, then returns to neutral: great for gentle head/neck control. Try races with siblings!

💙PreK: “Save the Toys”—place toys high/low; squat to rescue them.
💙5–8: Wall-slides to music—slide down when the beat drops.
💙9–13: “Floor is Lava” broad-jump path down the hallway.

Simple, short, and doable between regular daily activities.
