Most parents don’t know this guideline exists — and I didn’t fully follow it myself until I read it.
The Asian Society of Pediatric Dermatology recommends daily sunscreen for everyone 6 months and older. Not just beach days. Not just sunny days. Every single day. ☀️
As a derm PA and mom of two boys, that stopped me in my tracks.
Here’s what the ASPD actually says:
🧴 SPF 30+ broad spectrum, water resistant
⏰ Apply 15 min before going outside — and reapply every 2 hours
🏠 Yes, even indoors — UVA penetrates windows
☁️ Yes, even cloudy days — most UV still gets through
👶 No direct sun exposure under 6 months at all
UV damage starts in childhood and it’s cumulative.
Their skin is thinner, more vulnerable, and has decades ahead of absorbing damage we could be preventing now.
This is one of those habits that feels like a lot — until you zoom out and realize what you’re protecting them from.
Save this and send it to a parent who needs to see it. 👇
