Today, we’re honored to present the very first “Heart of Gold” Trophy making this not only a celebration of generosity, but the inaugural award of its kind and there is no better recipient than The Growing Tree.

During our November coat drive, The Growing Tree didn’t just participate they led with heart. Their incredible effort helped ensure that hundreds of community members stayed warm this winter. That kind of impact goes far beyond numbers; it reflects a team that genuinely cares about people.

This inaugural trophy represents kindness, teamwork, and a commitment to lifting others up and The Growing Tree has set the standard beautifully. Your dedication reminds us all what it truly means to serve with purpose.

On behalf of everyone here, thank you for your leadership, your generosity, and your heart of gold. Congratulations to The Growing Tree, our very first Heart of Gold recipients!

Lorenzo Archer is our December Employee of the Month! Lorenzo joined the team at Wilson Medical Center in February 2024. He currently works in the ICU & Telemetry floors as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Helping people when they need it most is what Lorenzo loves best about his job. He said his favorite memory at Wilson Medical Center was a time that a patient’s husband gave him a hug and voiced his appreciation for his care after his wife had passed. From a co-worker, “Lorenzo always has the initiative and willingness to go the extra mile to be of service to his patients and families. He takes pride in his work and is a team player who helps and supports his colleagues!”

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his grandma and going out in downtown Wilson. He is also an active member at his church, Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. When he travels, he loves to visit the beach and enjoy the sand and ocean. One of his bucket list goals is to fly on a plane!

Congratulations to Wilson Medical Center’s November employee of the month, Haley Pearce! Haley joined our Cardiopulmonary Rehab team last year and has already made a lasting impact with her enthusiasm, compassion, and dedication to helping patients improve their quality of life. As a coordinator, she finds great reward in teaching breathing techniques and empowering patients to regain confidence and independence—whether that means playing with their grandchildren or getting back to favorite activities.

A proud dog mom to her goldendoodle, Hartlee, Haley keeps life full of fun and energy. She’s the youngest of three girls and a proud UNC Charlotte alum. Outside of work, she loves spending time at the lake with her family, going wake surfing, traveling, and shopping. Haley is also giving back to her profession through her involvement on a professional development advisory committee helping launch the new Respiratory Therapy Program at Johnston Community College, an initiative that will help prepare future therapists for success.

From a co-worker, “Haley is a patient advocate that celebrates the big and small wins, zeroing in on each individual patient’s goals, needs and abilities. She has a positive attitude and infectious smile that captures the classes she leads warm up and exercise routines. She makes the group feel like family in a fun and caring atmosphere. She could be the mascot for the mission 'Making Communities Healthier'. It is her mission to assist her patients in living their healthiest life.”

The Wilson Medical Center Emergency Department recently led a hospital-wide coat drive in support of “Operation Wrap-Up,” an initiative organized by the Wilson County Department of Social Services. ED staff rallied enthusiastic participation from all departments and affiliated facilities—including Wilson Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, The Growing Tree, and Wilson OBGYN. Thanks to this collective effort, more than 500 coats were donated to support individuals and families in need throughout our community.

Hosted by the Wilson-Greene Housing Committee, Operation Wrap-Up was held at the Wilson County Public Library during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, bringing local organizations together to offer warmth, resources, and support to those who need it most.
