We made the news! 🎉

Our community was featured by New 8 Now La Crosse for a heartwarming visit from Winona State University students!

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., these wonderful students spent the day volunteering right here on our campus. They played bingo, shared stories, and connected with our residents in such meaningful ways. Their kindness and energy brought so many smiles throughout the day. 💜💙

In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we were thrilled to welcome Winona State University students to our campus for an afternoon of connection and fun! The students spent time playing BINGO, chatting, and sharing laughs with our residents, and the joy was mutual.

We absolutely love seeing these intergenerational connections come to life. Moments like these remind us of the power of community, kindness, and service — values Dr. King championed. 💙💜

We’re excited to share some news here at Benedictine Living Community-Winona! We’ve partnered with Patriot Angels to help our veteran residents and their spouses access the VA Aid and Attendance benefits they’ve earned.

These benefits can provide crucial financial help for assisted living and personal care. But the application process can be confusing, so Patriot Angels is stepping in to walk families through the claim process step-by-step.

This partnership is more than paperwork — it’s about honoring the lives and legacies of those who served.

On this Feast of Epiphany, we remember the Magi’s journey—a path of faith, hope and openness to God’s light. Their search reminds us that Christ reveals Himself to all who seek Him with sincere hearts. May God’s light guide us to unity and peace.

Our Story

Saint Anne of Winona is the Winona area’s leading and most requested choice for older adults and their families who desire a choice of continuum healthcare services and assistance. Our beginnings started with Saint Anne Hospice which opened in February, 1962. It was built and operated by the Sisters of Saint Francis from Rochester, Minnesota. The designation of Saint Anne Hospice signified the type of caring the Sisters wished to characterize in their work with the community. The name “hospice” from the Latin hospitium, meaning “hospitality”, was chosen because the word denotes warmth and friendliness and an atmosphere desired to be characteristic of Saint Anne’s.

In 1997, sponsorship of Saint Anne’s was transferred to the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery, Duluth, Minnesota, patrons of the Benedictine Health System. In 2002, the name of Saint Anne Hospice, Inc. was changed to Saint Anne of Winona to reflect more accurately the spectrum of services we provide. Those services now include Assisted Living and Memory Care Apartments, Rehabilitation Services, Skilled Nursing Care, Respite Care, Adult Day Care, and an established Nursing Assistant Training Program. Today, the philosophy of the Franciscans continues through the Gospel Values and the Benedictine Core Values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice.

We’re headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota. The Benedictine Health System is sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery. As one of the largest Catholic senior care organizations in the United States, we have more than 30 elder care communities in Minnesota, North Dakota, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois.
