Captain Larry Cecchettini, YCSO (Ret.) passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11, 2025, following a lengthy illness. He was 63 years old.

Larry started his career with the Yolo County Sheriff's Office as a Reserve Deputy and was hired full-time on November 6, 1988.

He worked a number of assignments during his 29+ year career at the Sheriff's Office including, but not limited to: Detention, Court Services, Bailiff, Patrol, Cops-For-Kids Program, arrest control instructor, impact weapon instructor, Investigations, Press Information Officer and Personnel. He retired on May 8, 2015.

A funeral service will held 11:00 AM, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Lind Brothers Funeral Home, 4221 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, CA 95608. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service.

Lt. Don Brooks (Davis PD, Ret) passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was 82 years old.

Plans for a memorial service in Davis are pending at this time.

MEDICAL PREMIUM INCREASE - Check your email from CalPERS. Here's the first two paragraphs:

"SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The CalPERS Board of Administration approved health plan premiums for the calendar year 2026 today, with an overall weighted premium rate increase of 8.21%.

The rate increase for Basic (non-Medicare) plans will average 7.76%. Members enrolled in CalPERS' Basic Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans will have an average premium rate increase of 6.48%. Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Basic plans will have an overall rate increase of 12.08%. Medicare plan premiums will see an average increase of 10.78% overall."
