We're almost halfway through American Heart Month. In addition to making sure you get regular checkups and know important numbers such as your blood pressure and cholesterol, heart health can also be about making new dishes that are delicious and good for you.

The American Heart Association devotes a whole secton of its website to recipes, cooking skills videos, and much more that prove being more heart healthy can also be creative and fun.

Explore all of the resources, recipes, and information at https://recipes.heart.org/en/.

Find recipes that are not only delicious and easy to make but also heart healthy. All of our recipes are lower in sodium, lower in fat, lower in sugar and adhere to the AHAs nutrition criteria.

This year marks 100 years of Black History Month. In honor of this milestone, the American Red Cross recently highlighted a number of Black individuals who not only helped establish the organization and continue its mission, but whose work in community healthcare paved the ways for so many other individuals and institutions. It's an inspiring way to see just some of the many important contributions of Black individuals in healthcare in our country's history.

It's also a timely reminder for those who are able to donate blood, which helps sustain the well-being of so many in our communities.❤️

As America celebrates 100 years of Black history, the American Red Cross honors the dream-builders and culture shifters whose innovation, courage, and service continue to power our mission and inspire us to reimagine humanitarianism.

February is ! This is a great moment to remember that even a little bit of self-care can make a difference to your heart--whether that's moving more, taking some time to relax and practice deep breathing, or getting quality sleep when possible.

In addition, be sure to know your numbers! That includes your blood pressure and cholesterol. Getting regular checkups and talking to a healthcare provider about your heart health is self-care, too!❤️

Now that the roads are (mostly) passable again, we're excited to share that our mobile medical unit--affectionately nicknamed Rolling Thunder--is out and about across Rhode Island in the communities we serve!

Rolling Thunder is open to everyone and no appointment is needed. You can simply walk onboard and get access to a variety of services, including basic checkups and health screening, behavioral healthcare, help with insurance enrollment, referrals and more.

Right now you can find Rolling Thunder outside of our awesome partner sites, including Jonnycake Center for Hope in Peace Dale on Wednesdays 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.; West Warwick Public Library Fridays 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.; and we'll soon be outside Connecting for Children & Families in Woonsocket on Thursday afternoons (details to come shortly). More locations will be announced as we roll along!

A huge thank you to our community partners and to the Independent and their newspapers for kicking things off with this great story about what we're up to. Come say hi if you see Rolling Thunder out and about and help spread the word. 💙

SOUTH KINGSTOWN —When a patient can’t get to the doctor, sometimes the doctor comes to them. That’s the philosophy behind Thundermist Health Center’s newest innovation: Rolling Thunder.

Please note: Due to weather, all Thundermist facilities will be closed Monday, January 26, 2026. We have done this out of an abundance of caution for our patients and staff.

Our Call Center will be open (401-767-4100) and telehealth visits that were already scheduled will be happening.

If you have an appointment on site that was originally scheduled for Monday, our team will be in touch about rescheduling it. We plan to be open normal hours on Tuesday, January 27. Please stay safe during the storm!

All three of our Convenient Care locations (Woonsocket, West Warwick, Wakefield) will be closing at 12 p.m. today, January 25.

The snowstorm is expected to make travel treacherous this afternoon and we want to make sure everyone stays safe.

We are still evaluating conditions for tomorrow and will announce any delayed opening or closure later today. Be careful out there (or stay inside)! 💙❄
