What usually happens after holiday travel and gathering with lots of folks indoors during an already bad flu season? Yep, you know already: Cases of flu and other respiratory illnesses go waaaaay up. The latest flu map from the CDC isn't even from January and there is very high flu activity nationwide, especially in New England. Things to remember as we head into the height of respiratory virus season:

💉: It is not too late to get a flu shot, or COVID booster, or RSV vaccine if you need it! Most providers' offices and pharmacies offer them, or look at vaccinefinder.org.

😷: If you have symptoms and need to be out and about, wear a mask. If you don't need to be out, stay home.

🙌: Wash those hands! Good old fashioned soap and 30 seconds of scrubbing 'em will help stop the spread of viruses and bacteria.

🦠: Cover that cough and sneeze. Coughing or sneezing into your elbow helps prevent further spread of droplets.

While vaccines may not prevent illness entirely, they certainly help reduce the severity of an illness and its duration. Remember: If you do get sick, be sure to rest and hydrate and take pain medications or fever reducers as needed.

As we head into 2026, many of the patients we serve are facing an uncertain future, wondering if the access to care they rely on will continue to be available to them. Will they be able to afford insurance? Will they have reliable transportation or find a safe place to live? Healthcare is more than just going in for a checkup. That's why our staff work together as care teams--to help address any issue that may affect a person's well-being.

Your meaningful gift by midnight tonight will make sure everyone has a place to turn for the care they need. No matter where they are. No matter who they are. Make a contribution at www.thundermisthealth.org/donate.

Today is the last day to give the gift of health in 2025!

You know how important healthcare is—and you know that feeling well is about so much more than seeing a physician. For many of our patients, things like lack of housing and access to nutritious foods and transportation create barriers to better health.

Vince is just one of our patients your gifts helped over the last year. After he became unhoused and had terrible knee pain, he knew he’d need surgery, but he wasn’t sure how he’d be able to do it or recover safely. Patients like Vince face barriers most of us never have to think about. Your support breaks those barriers and helps provide things that Vince needed, such as:

• Medical visits and access to specialists
• Help securing safe housing
• Supportive care teams
• Dignity and compassion

If you’re able to give before midnight, you will help more of our patients access the care they need and deserve in the year ahead. Visit www.thundermisthealth.org/donate to make a gift. Thank you. 💙
