Dear MIHG Family,

With the current surge, we have recently been getting a number of COVID-19 questions regarding telemedicine, COVID-19 testing and vaccine, and hope this post serves as a useful resource to you and your family. As we learn of additions or updates, changes will be made to this post.

A few friendly reminders regarding in-office visits or blood draws:

If you or a member of your household/pod have symptoms concerning for COVID-19 or are waiting for the results of your testing, please call the office to reschedule your appointment or convert the appointment to a telemedicine visit.

No visitors are permitted to accompany patients, except when necessary to facilitate care. In those special circumstances, one healthy visitor, over the age of 18, may be permitted. We recognize the challenges this may create and appreciate your understanding. Exceptions may be made, but must be discussed with office management prior to the appointment. We will continue to evaluate our policies in order to balance patient needs with the need to protect the larger community and limit potential exposures to COVID-19.

TELEMEDICINE:

Most insurance companies continue to offer access to telemedicine services. Our team can assist in scheduling your visit. You must have an active portal account with our office to access this type of a visit.

Telemedicine rules dictate that you must be in the state of Pennsylvania at the time of your visit.

TESTING RESOURCES:

** Most locations either have an online questionnaire or require a telemedicine visit with one of their affiliated providers ahead of test scheduling. A script from your personal primary care physician is typically not required and does not circumvent this process **

We have frequently been referring to CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid and Vybe Urgent Care for testing, but the websites below outline additional resources to consider. In most cases, you do not need to be a resident of the county to access these resources.

Testing turn-around times through any of these options cannot be guaranteed due to the volume of testing – this is outside of our control. As soon as they are available, results are sent directly to you from these testing locations.

COVID-19 VACCINATION:

Rollouts of the vaccine will proceed as per direction from federal and regional authorities.

MIHG does not have the infrastructure and equipment necessary to offer the vaccine in the office, but we strongly encourage our patients to regularly monitor the website for your respective county (see below) for updates and opportunities to register.

Dear MIHG Family,

In this time of COVID-19 and need for social distancing, we know many may feel unsure about visiting a physician in person. However, when you are feeling sick or need management of a chronic condition, it is important not to delay your care.

As we prepare for the safe and thoughtful reopening of our practice to in-person visits, we are taking necessary precautions to promote the wellness of our patients and team and to help prevent the potential spread of the virus in our region.

In-person Care (beginning mid-June)

Protocols to maximize the safety of all who enter our facility:
• Daily symptom screening of office personnel
• Telephone pre-screening of patients for upcoming appointments
• Expanded spacing between seats in the waiting area
• Staggered appointments to limit the number of individuals in the building at a time
• Hand sanitizer and hand-washing are available throughout the office. Individuals are directed to wash hands in the front hall restrooms before entering the office.
• No visitors are permitted to accompany patients, except when necessary to facilitate care. In those special circumstances, one healthy visitor, over the age 18, may be permitted.
o We recognize the challenges this may create and appreciate your understanding. Exceptions may be made, but must be discussed with office management prior to the appointment. We will continue to evaluate our policies in order to balance patient needs with the need to protect the larger community and limit potential exposures to COVID-19.
• Scheduled cleanings of all common areas several times daily; exam rooms are cleaned and disinfected after every patient
• Care team members have been supplied with masks and protective equipment
• All patients and visitors to the office are required to wear a face covering at all times. In addition to face coverings, individuals are encouraged to practice physical distancing and limit mobility in the building or touching of surfaces as much as possible.

Video/Telehealth Visits

For patients who may not need to be seen in person, we continue to offer telemedicine visits. These visits allow you to speak with your own physician through a video connection for a range of non-emergency issues and are a convenient option that supports social distancing.

You can learn more about scheduling a video visit by calling our office or communicating through the Patient Portal. Patients with known risk factors for COVID-19 are advised to convert upcoming office visits to Telehealth visits.

A reminder, Telehealth and the Patient Portal are not for emergency or urgent concerns. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 9-1-1, or proceed to the emergency department.

Phlebotomy/Infusion Visits

As we continue to evaluate the volume of patients requiring laboratory testing or infusion therapies, we have modified our in-office phlebotomy and infusion schedule. Please call our office for details and to schedule your appointment.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience at his challenging time.

UPDATE!!! Attn: MIHG COVID-19 Plan

Dear MIHG Family,
We hope you are safe and that the worst of the Coronavirus crisis will soon be over.
Please take this health crisis seriously and limit contact with others as much as possible to flatten the curve of spread. We are here to assist you in navigating the many questions that have been coming up in recent weeks.
Our team continues to work at full capacity but we have made significant changes to our current practice. In addition to maintaining strict hygiene principles, we have taken steps to convert visits to Telemedicine. Public health agencies and insurance providers are encouraging the public to take advantage of this option rather than inundating (and potentially risking exposure while there) the already crowded emergency rooms. Please note that the patient portal and Telemedicine are not intended for emergency concerns. Please note that the State of Pennsylvania dictates that telemedicine visits can only be offered to patients based in Pennsylvania.
We continue to accept inquiries about our practice and are now able to offer telemedicine visits to new patients in Pennsylvania. Interested individuals can communicate to our office manager, Donna Butler at donna@monthealth.com.
With regard to supplement coordination, please understand that we are limiting purchases to 2 of any given supplement to ensure that we can support as many patients as possible.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience at this challenging time.
Wishing you and yours all the best,
The MIHG team

Montgomery Integrative Health Group

Montgomery Integrative Health Group was founded in 2015 by Heidi Wittels, M.D., with the intention of providing “whole-person” clinical care in which patients are educated and empowered regarding their health, as much as they are treated for their health challenges.

Daila Pravs, M.D. joined Dr. Wittels in practice in 2017 and brings over a decade of family medicine experience which she blends with her integrative medicine training.

Led by the physician team, MIHG hosts an array of complementary providers who offer support services such as Lyme disease support, nutritional coaching, massage, laser therapy, infusion therapies, MTHFR and methylation optimization.
