My play therapy must-have? Handcuffs.

They may look simple, but they carry big meaning.

In the playroom, handcuffs can show feelings of losing control or wanting it back. They can mean, “I need to mow you’re staying” or “don’t leave me.” Sometimes they’re both testing relational limits, exploring power, or making sure the relationship can hold strong feelings.

In play therapy, nothing is just a prop. Every choice is communication, and even handcuffs can tell a story about safety, trust, and connection.

New resource for Jonesboro mothers!

“This group was designed for those who are pregnant, adopting an infant, and/or who are up to 2 years postpartum.
Each Monday from September 6th to October 8th, we will meet from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in our office. We will provide refreshments at each session! This will be a closed group of the same participants over the 5 weeks.
We will offer education on perinatal mood disorders such as postpartum depression and anxiety. We will teach skills for managing and coping with perinatal mental health symptoms and provide links to resources within the community. Our goal is to help you feel more confident navigating the demands of pregnancy and motherhood.

30 minutes of play can change the week.

Research shows that just 30 minutes of child-led play with a safe adult can strengthen connection, reduce behavior struggles, and build emotional resilience.

You don’t have to be a professional play therapist. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be present. Let them choose the activity. Follow their lead.
No teaching. No correcting (unless there is a genuine safety issue). Just time to be with them and see the world through their eyes.

This Sunday, try setting aside 20-30 minutes. No screens. No multitasking. Just play.
