FEBRUARY CLINICAL GROUP TOPIC

Don’t be Right All the Time. Be Flawed. Get Uncomfortable. Tap into your Wisdom.

Our areas of not knowing, of not being perfect, of not having the answers, of not being sure are some of our greatest assets in the work we do. Why?

Because we take ourselves off the pedestal - we don’t set a bar for others that is unrealistic and unattainable because even we ourselves are not reaching it.

We become real. We become relatable. We become human.

This is not to say that we don’t have expertise, that we don’t have gifts and skillsets that are vital in the work we do. But what makes us "real good" at our job is to hold all those gifts and also hold the fact that perfection is in the imperfection. Real is in the parts that are unknown.

So, reflect on these questions for our group this month…

1) Where do you allow yourself to be perfectly imperfect in your work with others?

2) Where do you allow yourself to not have the answers or to say “I don’t know?”

3) Do you apologize for not knowing, or do you give yourself grace and allow your clients to witness this?

Much of the messages we convey to the people we work with are not in the form of the direct messages we verbalize to them, but rather in how we navigate the uncomfortable, how we navigate not having the answers, how we navigate being human.

Our Spring GIVERS RETREAT is here again!!! Whoohoo!!!
If you're someone who centers their life around supporting others and your community, then this space is for you!!

It's especially for those of you who may be feeling the burning of the candle at both ends, those of you who feel weary and in need of some nourishment. It takes compassion, bravery, energy, time, and our genuine self to be passionate about giving and supporting others and all too often we may forget ourselves in the process.

SO! Join us and some amazing givers at JustLiving Farm to take time for yourself. We've been thrilled to have teachers, nurses, therapists, pastors, doctors, community activists, caregivers and more! A space to connect with one another, learn tools to stay healthy, have great conversation, laugh, share, struggle together and rekindle that ability to fill your cup.

AND! We’ll have baby goats on the ground!

We’re going to be talking macro, societal, cultural at this months supervision and with this topic comes the reality of grief, pain, and suffering. So we’ll not ignore the reality of strain that exists, but we’re going to focus our attention towards HOPE.

How do we support our clients in seeing hope in their lives, and even more so, do we innately see hope ourselves, or does it feel a little distant? If it feels distant for us, it will become more challenging for us to support our clients in connecting to it?

That all said, bring yourselves! We’ll be doing small group work together, watching videos and connecting. No prep needed this month - it’s the shortest month of the year and ya’ll deserve a little break :)

I look forward to seeing you all there!

If you're interested in joining a supervision group send me a message and we'll get you started!

The subtlety of winter is quite fascinating when we’re able to connect with the quiet calling to slow and rest. I’m in a time, myself, like many of us, where I am actively creating and producing which makes me feel out of alignment with the subtle calling to calm.

That feeling of being out of alignment, sparks that conditioned response to absorb shame. Then I remember that winter is wrapping around me - the ease is ever present and the ability to tap into that ease is ever present– even the few seconds of sending gratitude to my breath and body that enables a movement towards matters the most, to my natural calling and vision for my life. I remember that two truths can coexist – I can be in moments of building and creating and I can also be in moments of quiet grace.

We experience so much expectation to solve our problems with our cognition, yet it’s those moments of reconnecting with our own body and breath that remind us that the slowness didn’t go anywhere, it’s within us, our minds may have just been a bit too busy to notice.

Sending you all love as you journey finding balance. So if you need more wintering in your life, don’t forget that winter is currently holding you – lean in, embrace the embrace.

A time of year that I never often noticed, now comes with very treasured moments.

The snow has melted and the birds are in full joy and work as the fog coats the valley in a warm embrace. The soil is soft and nourished by the melting of the once nestled snowflakes.

This counterbalance arrives - the calming sensation of the fog, the land, the muted, but deep colors, which creates the holding space for the busy bustling excitement of the birds.

Rest is needed in winter, yet we know we will have times of bustling and heavy work. This is where we lean into looking for the balance - where do you find stillness? calmness? the subtlety of quiet? Notice what the landscape is offering to support you in finding that balance. When we work hard, we must rest hard and we need even more of this into the winter.

SOLSTICE

Let the darkness speak to you. As the counterbalance to light and the simplest reminder of the value of the breadth of spectrum.

There lives a different stillness in the dark of the seasons, a different kind of quiet, that holds a life-full loving movement. The burrowing beneath the snow of the bunny dens, packed with fluff, warmth and baby noses. The willows calm to naturally rest their photosynthesis and devote their resources to nourishing their roots .

Let the dark soak deeply into your bones, pulling inward the wisdom that lives in the quiet subtle movement.

There is value in the outer edges, what stirs beneath. What is the quiet subtle is calling you to tap into? That maybe has been forgotten? What spaces within need warmth? What roots need to be nourished?
