As temperatures rise in the coming weeks and months, please remember that parked cars get hot really fast and so can children. Remember to stop and look in the back seat before you lock your car.

Hot surfaces, such as car seats, hoods and dashboards, can reach temperatures of more than 200 degrees. Be sure you check the temperature on playground equipment and other exposed areas, such as asphalt, before your children are exposed.

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center is a designated Level III trauma and burn center. This means patients of all ages in central Mississippi, as well as across the state and beyond, can be treated at Baptist for a wide range of trauma and burns.

Even though July has been designated UV Safety Month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sun safety is always in season! The sun is a natural source of ultraviolet (UV) radiation; while it can be beneficial, the sun can also cause health risks.

📌How to Protect Yourself from UV Radiation:

⛱Stay in the shade, especially during midday hours.
👕Wear clothes that cover your arms and legs.
🧢Wear a wide-brimmed hat to shade your face, head, ears, and neck.
🕶Wear sunglasses that block both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays.
☀️Use sunscreen with sun protection factor (SPF) 15 or higher, for both UVA and UVB protection.
