The Eight of Wands
and
VI - The Lovers
from the Universal Waite Deck,
US Games Systems, Inc.
So, interesting experience in the card pull today. For one thing, as I erected sacred space I actually got chills. Then, Universe shoved me - not pushed, SHOVED - to pull two cards, so bear with me as I try to navigate this message for us all.
The first card I was told to turn over is the Eight of Wands. I've always seen that card as Information, 'comin' in hot,' but for some reason that wasn't resonating as I studied these two cards together. As I thought about the eight, it brought me to numerology. How the eights in all the suits tend to symbolize empowerment in some way: the eight of cups empowers someone to move on from an emotionally challenging or difficult situation; the eight of swords points out when we are in some kind of mental bind of our own making, a trap we've placed OURSELVES in. The eight of pentacles shows a capable woman enjoying the bountiful harvest of of a good life. This card uses fire, so I see ACTION... but perhaps it's also reminding me about ALIGNMENT. Those wands are precisely in alignment. Where, do our THOUGHTS and ACTIONS requirement adjustment to come into alignment? Or, perhaps, who out there reading this needing some kind of acknowledgement and validation that they made the right choice and are following the right path?
The eights also talk about manifestation, bringing us to culmination. The eights are pointing us toward the end of a cycle, readying us to start another anew. So, where in our lives do we need to see what's time has come to be released, in order to make room for the new actions, new movement, new endeavors to find their feet?
That then brought me to the Lovers, Reversed. And I could see how this made sense. In its upright position, the Lovers talkes about relationships, yes, of course. But it ALSO takes about what each of us, individually, BRINGS to the relationship. What values and beliefs harmonize between people? And when reversed, it again pushes that word at me: ALIGNMENT. What's misaligned? Where are we perhaps short-changing ourselves in order to keep a relationship going?
What inner conflicts are keeping peace at a distance from us? What have we perhaps been reluctant to face with a partner or friend that is eating away a relationship from the inside out? Where are we beating a dead horse in a situation because we fear what others will think of us if step away?
There's a lot going on in these cards today. Be gentle with yourselves as you ponder what they might mean for you.
Namaste, y'all.
