Samantha shared a glimpse into her life, from traveling with her mom (their dynamic duo!) to raising her daughter Emma, who’s about to turn 12; how does that even happen?! ❤️ She reminded us that behind every great business is a real person with a story… and hers is rooted in family, connection, and making memories.

🔌⚡️ 10-Minute Spotlight: David O'Brien | O’Brien Electrical Contracting, LLC ⚡️🔌

This week at BNI York III, David O’Brien delivered a powerful and eye-opening 10-minute presentation that really got everyone thinking about something we often take for granted… our electrical systems.

David shared his journey—starting in the trades in high school, building over 13 years of experience, and working his way up to running large-scale jobs before launching his own company. But what really stood out was why he started O’Brien Electrical Contracting.

👉 He saw rushed work.
👉 He saw shortcuts.
👉 He saw “good enough” becoming the standard.

And he made the decision to raise that standard.

💡 One of the biggest takeaways from his talk:

“Breakers don’t trip for no reason.”

Something as simple as resetting a breaker or ignoring flickering lights could be masking a much bigger issue—like loose connections, corrosion, or dangerous heat buildup inside your panel.

He even passed around real breakers from homes to show how damage can exist where homeowners would never see it.

Most homeowners have never had a true electrical inspection done by a licensed electrician—only a basic home inspection.

And that’s where risk lives.

Last week at our meeting, Jackie Cardello Laucks shared a quick but powerful lesson on how to make communication actually connect—and it hit home.

Most people communicate how they prefer… not how the other person understands.

That’s where things break down.

Jackie broke it into 3 simple types of communication styles:

👀 Visual (see it)
They’ll ask: “Can you show me?”
➡️ Try: “Let me paint a picture for you…”

👂 Auditory (hear it)
They’ll say: “That sounds good” or “Walk me through it”
➡️ Use: “Let me explain how this works step-by-step…”

🤝 Kinesthetic (feel it)
They’ll say: “I just feel like…” or focus on impact
➡️ Say: “Here’s how this will feel for you…”

The biggest takeaway:

👉 Stop communicating how YOU like—start communicating how THEY receive.

When you adjust your communication:
✔️ Confusion goes down
✔️ Trust builds faster
✔️ You become more memorable

Simple way to remember it:
Say it. Show it. Make them feel it.
