Some of the ways we ate whole grains this week. 🌾
Every meal and every snack usually has a whole grain in it in some way, but we also prioritize meats, proteins, and other colorful foods. It’s easy when you get on the fresh flour hype to forget about other healthy foods because fresh flour foods are just the best. 😅
•Wheat Berries on a veggie salad with a homemade honey mustard dressing and chicken. (I usually meal prep 2-3 big meals and we eat it on repeat during the week!)
•Pasta Salad with whole-wheat einkorn fusilli, tomato, spinach, chickpeas, and banana peppers with homemade dressing and burgers. I love to make my own pasta, but jovial’s is quick and easy and I love it since it’s whole wheat Einkorn!
•Brown rice with sausage and veggies. Not my favorite meal but it was easy and nourished us so it’s all good. 😅
•Homemade granola full of nutrient rich seeds, like pumpkin, h**p, and sunflower. We ate this with milk or with yogurt and fruit.
•chocolate chip pancakes - one of the boy’s favorite foods, and I love it for them because it fills them up and they don’t crash after.
•Homemade granola bars - my favorite quick snack to grab for me or the boys in the afternoon. A nice energy boosts and holds them over until dinner time! I put some fresh milled flour in my granola bars and it helps them hold together so much better!
•Cocoa Puffs. Our first time making these this week but I’ve made 5 batches so far for the boys! 😅
•homemade bread - we eat the majority of our bread as toast in the morning with avocado and eggs, or peanut butter!
What are your favorite ways to get whole grains in?! I’ve been loving adding wheat berries into different things, like the salad we had this week!
