Zachary Bee Keepers Association
Zachary Bee Club Meeting – Spring Prep, Bee Netting, and Swarm Catching
Monday 3/9/2026 @ 6:30pm
Hello everyone,
You’re invited to our upcoming bee club meeting where we’ll be discussing honey bee netting, spring hive preparation, and how to safely catch a swarm.
As colonies begin building up in spring, we’ll cover the basics of spring inspections, what to look for in your hives, how to manage growing colonies, and ways to reduce swarming. We’ll also talk about proper protective gear and demonstrate simple techniques for collecting a swarm if you come across one.
Whether you’re a new beekeeper or have years of experience, it should be a helpful and informative discussion as we head into the busy spring season.
Also, if anyone in the club is interested in purchasing nucs this year, you can contact Bobby Frierson @ 225-241-6132. Nucs are $200 each, with a 50% down payment required to reserve one.
We hope to see everyone at the meeting.
Best regards,
-Alan Howland II
