I have 2 jobs. (Well like 42728827372882) but 2 main jobs. I'm a doula and a holistic health practitioner. Both of the fields are being affected my these bills if they go through with the broad language that's used. I wouldnt be able to do hip squeezes, counter pressure techniques, or any other form of hands on support in my doula role. It's fine, I'm fine. 🫶 it's just my livelihood, the way I've found connection to women, and the best way to give back to mama's.

🚨URGENT: Stop HB 744 from Redefining Holistic Care as "Unlicensed Medicine"🚨

Ohio House Bill 744 is moving through the House Local Government Committee. While the bill aims to regulate massage establishments, its overly broad definition of "massage therapy" threatens to turn doulas, energy workers, and holistic practitioners into "unlicensed medical providers" overnight.

The Problem: The "Touch Trap"

As currently written, HB 744 defines massage therapy as any application of touch, pressure, stroking, or vibration intended to treat the human body. This definition is so wide that it inadvertently captures:

---> Birth Workers: Doulas and midwives using hip squeezes, counter-pressure, or effleurage for labor comfort.

---> Energy Practitioners: Craniosacral and Polarity therapists who use light touch to balance the nervous system without manipulating muscle tissue.

---> Lactation Specialists: Providers who use gentle touch to assist with breastfeeding and infant care.

The Consequences

If HB 744 passes without explicit exemptions for non-manipulative energy work and birth support:

---> Fines & Cease-and-Desist Orders:
Practitioners could face legal action for simply doing their jobs without a State Medical Board massage license.
---> Censorship:
Using words like "therapy," "treatment," or "bodywork" in your marketing could be labeled "illegal advertising."
---> Loss of Access:
Low-income families and birthing people will lose access to essential holistic support systems.

ACT NOW: Three Steps to Protect Your Practice and Access

1. Contact the Primary Sponsor
Respectfully urge Representative Jean Schmidt (District 62) to include an exemption for "non-manipulative energy therapies and traditional birth support."

Phone: (614) 466-8134
Email: Rep62@ohiohouse.gov

2. Email (even better hand write a letter) the House Local Government Committee

Your voice matters. Use the sample script below to email the committee members.

Subject: OPPOSE/AMEND HB 744 – Protect Birth Workers and Energy Practitioners

Message: I am writing to express my concern regarding the broad language in HB 744. As written, the definition of "massage therapy" unintentionally criminalizes the work of doulas, craniosacral therapists, and polarity practitioners who do not practice soft-tissue manipulation. Please amend Section 4731.15 to explicitly exempt non-manipulative energy workers and birth support professionals. We must protect Ohioans' right to choose holistic care.

3. Share Your Story
Are you a doula whose clients rely on counter-pressure? Are you a craniosacral therapist who helps infants with colic? Post your story on social media using the hashtags and . Tag your local representatives.

The Goal: We aren't against safety—we are against over-regulation. Let’s ensure Ohio law distinguishes between professional massage therapy and the sacred, gentle touch of birth and energy work.

Woooo people, let's talk about limiting beliefs. I identify my own limiting beliefs daily. Sometimes it's about my body, my health, my strength, my money, work, relationships, and pretty much every aspect of my life. This post explains what limiting beliefs are, how they affect healing, and examples of limiting beliefs.

For me, when you have POTS you're told "this is something that you can't cure, you will have to live with this the rest of your life" At first I believed that, but as I started healing, I noticed I was missing something because I'd feel fine for awhile, then symptoms would always creep back in. I finally started working with practitioners who could help me identify these patterns and shift them. Even speaking about issues I had, I needed to be mindful about the words I chose. I would say things "That was a big issue with MY POTS". "MY" is still owning that disease. It's a conscious effort to not own a disease that changed your entire life.

This isn't specific to POTS though. Any disease or problem you have can be a place for more growth. Hashimotos, lupus, RA, Lymes Disease, EDS, mental health disorders, even big scary diseases that we don't like to talk about.

When I work with clients, I help identify those limiting beliefs and use affirmations or even different phrases for your brain. When you shift your mindset, your physical health shifts. Those new neural pathways are formed every time you stop a limiting belief and replace it with a new, better phrase.

It's that time of year! 🌸💜
We pick violets every year. We've made violet simple syrup and violet jelly. They're so beautiful. Nature offers us medicine right in our backyards. Before you mow, pick some violets. Add them to your salad, add them to some vinegar, brew them with a tea, put them in water in a sunny window and make a flower essence, make some simple syrup, make jelly, do what feels good!

Violet is known to support:
Vitamin C
The Lymphatic system
Gentle detoxification
Skin & inflammation

*Remember when you're foraging to avoid areas close to roadways, areas that are sprayed with chemicals, or ones with animal waste đź’© only take what you need, and leave the rest for the pollinators and Mother Earth!
