We’re thrilled to celebrate John G. as Cedar Hill’s Resident of the Month! John is known for his kind heart, friendly smile, and the way he’s always ready to lend a hand to his peers and staff alike.

Since joining our Cedar Hill family, John has truly made this place his home — forming friendships with everyone he meets and brightening our days with his positive spirit.

One of John’s favorite moments this fall was watching all the ghosts and goblins during our Trunk or Treat event! He had a great time waving to the trick-or-treaters from his window and even managed to give a few a playful little scare!

John, thank you for sharing your warmth, humor, and friendship with all of us. Cedar Hill is a happier place because of you!

Halloween Fun at Cedar Hill

Cedar Hill celebrated Halloween in the best way possible—with flavorful food, fa-boo-lous friends, and festive fun! Even without costumes, our residents and staff made the day special through laughter, shared stories, and plenty of sweet treats.

The dining room was filled with conversation and cheer as everyone enjoyed a delicious spread and the warm company of friends. Events like this remind us that it’s not the costumes that make a celebration, but the connections, smiles, and moments shared.

Blooming Joy at Cedar Hill!

Cedar Hill recently received a beautiful donation of flowers, and our residents had the best time creating floral arrangements to brighten up their rooms and common areas throughout the building!

There’s something truly special about working with flowers — the colors, the scents, and the creativity all come together and are able to lift spirits and spark joy. For our residents, arranging flowers isn’t just a fun activity — it’s a wonderful way to promote relaxation, boost mood, encourage self-expression, and even support fine motor skills.

And while the weather outside may be dreary, it certainly doesn’t feel that way inside Cedar Hill! Thanks to these beautiful, lovingly crafted flower arrangements, our halls are now bursting with color, warmth, and cheer.

Celebrating Dr. Paul Mumma — Nearly 40 Years of Dedication!

This week, Cedar Hill had the honor of throwing a surprise “Almost Retirement” party for Dr. Paul Mumma on his last day with Cedar Hill — a heartfelt celebration for a truly remarkable career.

Dr. Mumma has been part of the Cedar Hill family since 1986, caring for our residents with compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication for nearly four decades. His presence has touched countless lives — bringing comfort, guidance, and kindness to everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside him or being under his care.

Our team gathered to surprise him with laughter, stories, and plenty of sweet treats as we celebrated his incredible legacy. While we’ll miss seeing him in our halls, his impact will always be part of who we are at Cedar Hill.

Our amazing therapy team really spiced things up this Halloween season, dressing as none other than the “Spice Girls”… but not those Spice Girls! Instead, they came as everyone’s favorite kitchen staples, think Ginger, Paprika, Nutmeg and a dash of Cumin!

Just like their costumes, our therapy team adds the perfect mix of energy, encouragement, and expertise to everything they do. They’re the secret ingredient that helps our residents reach their goals, regain strength, and feel their very best every day.

At Cedar Hill, therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s personalized, empowering, and sprinkled with plenty of fun! Here’s to our very own “Spice Girls” — proving that a little flavor and a lot of heart make rehab results even sweeter!

Cedar Hill and Sterling Suites had a spooktacular time participating in the Trail of Treats event for the Zanesville Certus buildings last night! While the weather tried to rain on our parade, we simply moved the fun indoors, and it didn’t stop anyone from coming out. We had an amazing turnout with over 500 visitors stopping by for Halloween fun!

Our residents had an incredible time handing out candy, greeting families, and seeing all the little ghosts and goblins in costume. The joy on their faces said it all, the laughter, conversation, and excitement brought so much energy and warmth to the evening.

Events like this are more than just fun, they’re wonderful opportunities for our residents to connect with the community, share smiles, and feel part of something bigger. Many of them love seeing children in costume and reminiscing about their own Halloween memories, which makes the experience even more special.
We’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by our buildings and helped make the night a success. Your kindness, costumes, and candy-collecting spirit brought happiness to so many hearts!

Sweet Treats for a Sweet Care Team!

There’s nothing better than the smell of something freshly baked coming from our kitchen — especially when it’s made by Lucy, our incredible Dietary Manager!

Lucy truly has a gift for baking and a heart for sharing it. Whether it’s cookies, cakes, or her famous creations from scratch, she always goes the extra mile to bring joy and deliciousness! to our residents and staff. Today, she surprised everyone with a decadent brownie pudding dessert that had the whole building smiling!

Her passion and care shine through in every dish she makes — it’s not just about the food, but the love she puts into it. Lucy, thank you for filling Cedar Hill with warmth, kindness, and that irresistible homemade goodness we all look forward to.

Still in the Scarecrow Spirit at Cedar Hill!

Fall fun isn’t over yet at Cedar Hill! After creating our big scarecrow for the Downtown Zanesville Scarecrow Contest, our residents kept the creativity going by making their own mini scarecrows right here at home.

Armed with craft sticks, paint, and plenty of imagination, they brought these tiny scarecrows to life — each one full of personality, color, and charm. It’s amazing what a little teamwork and a lot of laughter can create!

These festive fall crafts remind us how much joy comes from staying active, creative, and connected. Whether it’s decorating for the season or joining in a friendly community competition, our residents love celebrating together.

Fueling Team Spirit at Cedar Hill!

Cedar Hill was thrilled to support the Rosecrans Football Team recently. To help the players power through practice and gear up for their next big game, our team put together a hearty sub table loaded with all their favorite fixings — fresh meats, cheeses, veggies, and plenty of tasty extras.

It was a joy to see the team gather, laugh, and share a well-earned meal after a tough practice. Moments like these remind us how powerful community, encouragement, and a little food from the heart can be.

Spooky & Sweet Creations at Cedar Hill!

Halloween spirit is in full swing! This week, our residents rolled up their sleeves and got deliciously creative by building their very own spooky Halloween cookie houses!

Much like the classic gingerbread houses of Christmas, these haunted cookie cottages came to life with plenty of frosting, candy decorations, and a whole lot of laughter. The tables were covered in sweet supplies — chocolate cookie walls, icing “glue,” colorful candy pathways, and spooky sprinkles!

As always, our residents’ creativity shined bright (and spooky)! Some houses looked haunted and eerie, others were playful and colorful — but every house was a true masterpiece. The best part was hearing everyone share memories of Halloween traditions from years past while making new ones together.

Our Cedar Hill team loved seeing the smiles, teamwork, and laughter that filled the room. It was the perfect way to celebrate the season — a mix of fun, friendship, and festive spirit that makes Cedar Hill such a special place to call home.

Sweet Acts of Kindness at Cedar Hill & Willow Haven
Our new Director of Community Engagement, Brittany, spent Friday morning spreading kindness in the sweetest way!

She delivered school supplies gathered by our residents, staff, and families at Cedar Hill and our sister facility, Willow Haven, to our friends at John McIntire Elementary School — and even brought along a batch of homemade cookies for the school office staff to enjoy.

We’re so proud of everyone who helped make this donation possible. Small acts of kindness truly make a big difference, and we’re grateful to be part of such a caring community.

Here’s to a wonderful school year ahead for all the amazing students and staff at John McIntire Elementary!

Once a Part of the Family, Always a Part of the Family!

Today, we were touched by a visit from Thomas and his adorable furry companion, Peanut.

Thomas came to Cedar Hill earlier this year for skilled rehabilitation, and since completing his stay, he’s continued to visit often — bringing smiles, stories, and plenty of tail wags with him.

When we asked why he keeps coming back, Thomas simply said,
“Because I have real friends here who truly care about me.”

Those words remind us exactly why we do what we do. At Cedar Hill, care goes beyond recovery — it’s about connection, compassion, and friendships that last long after a resident goes home.
