A pelvic floor appreciation post…

Thank you for supporting me.
Thank you for helping me feel grounded and relaxed when I sit on you.
Thank you for allowing me to hold my sometimes stinky gas.
Thank you for helping me to lift heavy things.
Thank you for allowing me to hold my p*e and p**p.
Thank you for supporting my pelvic organs.
Thank you for helping me to take big, calming breaths.
Thank you for helping me to feel pleasure in my body.
You have a very interesting job, and I am so glad you are located between my legs. I adore you, my pelvic floor. 🙏❤️

Let me explain…
A lot of self-care these days calls for buying things that claim to “heal” or “calm” or “become the new you”. So, much like a band-aid rather than a cure.
The most important undertaking is to get to the bottom of what is causing you to feel this way in the first place.

🕊 SELF REFLECTION 🕊

If your self-care routine involves taking an active roll in reflecting, more power to ya- keep on!
If not, then just consider this for a moment. The hardest part is giving yourself the space and time to reflect. Here are some ideas:
-Going for a silent walk (meaning no podcast or music)
-Journaling
-Yoga with journaling or writing or truly feeling afterwards.
-Listening to your favorite song then having a moment of silence to think about your feelings
-Going to or doing your favorite workout class then having a moment of integration and noticing your feelings before walking back into the house to your kids, your partner, your roommate, or your to-do list.

Any other ideas?! 🕊

A few weeks ago, I had a patient who was 10 months postpartum.

Her main complaint was pain with s*x, slight leaking of urine with coughing or sneezing, and a small pelvic organ prolapse. This was her second va**nal delivery.
She said “things just weren’t feeling right down there.”

After only one treatment session and doing her at home program, she said she could feel increased libido 🙌, and she could notice her core muscles again when lifting and moving things 💪.

Something that could seem so insignificant can have such a monumental impact! I know that this momma experienced a turning point in her postpartum healing. ❤️

She now had someone explain to her what her pelvic floor was, what happened to her pelvic floor and core muscles during birth, and that it’s okay to not feel ready being intimate w her partner.

The first few visits, my goal is to bring awareness and gentle activation to the pelvic floor and core. ❤️ This increases blood flow to the area, it reconnects our mind-body connection to this area, and it sends signals of safety ❤️ to your brain that it is now okay to use this area again.

This treatment scenario is so common for my postpartum mommas. Don’t fret if you get the go-ahead from your doctor at your 6 week check up, but you don’t feel ready for s*x or the rush to “get back to normal”. A little love and body connection goes a looooong way ❤️.

I would love to find out what kind of care and guidance you are seeking? ✨

Your pelvic floor is AMAZING.

It plays a part in every daily movement, every breath, every time you p*e, every time you p**p, and of course during s*x.

Just think about that for a minute. 💭

Because these muscles are located internally, it requires more awareness and also a bit more understanding of the anotomy down there. 🤓 It has also been taboo in many cultures, religious, and societies to talk about these topics openly.

⚡️My goal is to provide a safe space for pelvic floor exploration.⚡️

So, let’s talk about it! Let’s connect to our bodies! Let’s get you the care and guidance you need to live the life you adore. ✨

“Try being absolutely honest. Reveal your most private feelings to yourself. It’s a new kind of power, a different kind of power. It is spiritual power, the power of opening the heart.” - Melody Beattie

⚡️It’s raw, it’s hard, and it’s liberating. Try it first with yourself. Then, it gets easier with others. Starting a new small business has me feeling all the vulnerability feels. I’m so excited and so ready for this journey.⚡️

Your pelvic floor is AMAZING! It plays a part in every daily movement🤸🏽‍♀️, every breath🧘🏼, every time you p*e💦, every time you p**p💩, and of course during s*x✨. Just think about that for a second! For numerous reasons, we have a general ignorance about this part of our body. Because these muscles are located internally🧐, it requires more awareness and also a bit more understanding of the anatomy. My goal is to provide a safe space for pelvic floor exploration. Thus, bringing about a deeper understanding of our bodies, our relationship to our bodies, and a whole lotta love for what goes on down there.💗 … can I get an AMEN?! 🙏

When I was in physical therapy school, we had ONE lecture on women's health.

Whyyyyyyy?!!

I was so confused and super interested in why we did not get more education on this special group of pelvic floor muscles. I am supposed to be a musculoskeletoal specialist..?

After I gradutated, I took every continuing education course on Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation that I could find.
I quickly learned that there is so much misdiagnosis & mistreatment associated with our pelvises (pelvi?).

THEN after treating women with pelvic pain for several years, I realized there was another missing piece: The mind/body connection and how it affects our Nervous System.

Voila. The plot thickens...

Sooo, my wish is to create a safe space for all women to explore the story of their pelvis. To learn how their pelvic floor works. And to empower YOU with the ability to heal yourself. ✨♥️

Don't find evidence to support an old story. Create a new one. How convinced are you of it? How convinced are you of the things your mind tells you? Unpack. Peel away. Practice. Peel away. Practice. Peel away. Feel. Peel away. Love.

Take a moment, relax your shoulders, relax your jaw, soften your gaze. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel yourself ground (relax) into wherever you are sitting, standing, or lying. ✨
With every inhale, feel your belly expand; and with every exhale feel a sense of ease come upon you. ✨
Give yourself a moment to feel. If you become aware of a specific area of tension or stagnation, breathe and send healing prana (energy) to this area of your body.✨

You have the power and ability to come back to the present moment. To calm your mind and to release tension from your body. Use your breath to bring you there. It is our greatest tool. It is interconnective with all systems of the body. It is our life force.
