The SoKh Vision

SoKh™ was developed in 2008 by our founder, Khnuma Simmonds, after she became certified with AFAA as a group fitness instructor. Initially, her aerobics certification was a pathway to quick and convenient money considering that she had just completed undergraduate school and was searching for work.

She noticed, however, that she didn't look forward to teaching and was generally 'in it' for the money. She would rejoice when students didn't show for the class as she would still get paid as long as she was present (shameful confession!).

Khnuma also noticed that while there were non-traditional group fitness classes such as Zumba, Crossfit, and Hip Hop Abs, they were generally developed by men. They also lacked the flair of her Afro-Caribbean culture.
