If your a Teacher/TA or an educator and your struggling to support a deaf or hearing impaired child in the classroom??

Well, HERE are some easy STRATEGIES:

πŸ…°οΈ π”Ύπ•–π•Ÿπ•–π•£π•’π• π•€π•¦π•˜π•˜π•–π•€π•₯π•šπ• π•Ÿπ•€:

πŸ“Œ You may need to MODIFY some teaching styles and the physical environment to ensure full accessibility for all.
πŸ“Œ Make sure everyone in the classroom has FULL ACCESS to ALL activities.
πŸ“Œ ENCOURAGE interactions between the deaf student and the hearing classmates.
πŸ“Œ ACCEPT the deaf student for themselves. Teacher ATTITUDES play a very important part in the students success in school.
πŸ“Œ Deaf students need to feel important just as everyone else. EMPHASIS things they can do.
πŸ“Œ Deaf students should conform to the same standards of diacipline as others in the classroom. Therefore INSTRUCTIONS should be clear and easy to follow.
πŸ“Œ NEVER judge a deaf students method of communication. Remember that is the only way they are using to respond to you.

πŸ…±οΈ ℙ𝕙π•ͺπ•€π•šπ•”π•’π• π”Όπ•Ÿπ•§π•šπ•£π• π•Ÿπ•žπ•–π•Ÿπ•₯:

πŸ“Œ A deaf student may become more tired than the hearing students due to the need to constantly concerntrate in order to hear or watch an interpreter. So peovide regular breaka from having to listen or having to watch an interpreter. Teachers can alternate class discussion times with individual work so that the deaf student does not need to concentrate for long periods of time.
πŸ“Œ Deaf students are often visual learners, so an attractive classroom with interesting notice boards and posters around the room assists the student to learn. VISUAL teaching methods, uaing pictures, diagrams and word maps also assist the deaf student.
πŸ“Œ Its always important for the deaf student to be SEATED infront of the classroom so they have a better view of the teacher and the interpreter. Any seating arrangement should NOT isolate the student.
πŸ“Œ Reduce background noise, including student talking. Avoid placing students near fans or air-conditioners if they are noisy. Shut the door or window if there is noise outside. This is to minimise disruption.
πŸ“Œ When showing a video, check to see if they have English subtitles. If its not captioned, allow the deaf student the opportunity to take the DVD, video or audio home to listen to it in a quiet space before using it in a classroom situation. If this is not possible, have someone to interpret for the child. AND if that is not possible too, PLEASE try not to use this medium.
