SIAHDPC Project Wraps Up with a Successful Two-Day Event
Prishtina, Kosovo – Partners from Kosovo, Germany, Finland, and other countries came together to celebrate the results of the Erasmus+ SIAHDPC (Student-Run Interdisciplinary Allied Health Digital Centre) project. The two-day event, held at Heimerer College, highlighted how this international collaboration is helping improve education, research, and healthcare services with innovative digital tools.

On the first day, participants shared insights about the project’s achievements, including how it supported the creation of new professional training courses, developed digital learning platforms and materials, and introduced new ways of working in healthcare education.
On the second day focused attendees discussed how to share the project’s successes to schools, healthcare workers, and the wider community. Workshops gave everyone a chance to brainstorm improvements, while a round table brought different voices together to talk about the challenges of making digital education and healthcare more accessible.
The event was a great example of what can be achieved when international and local partners work together. It marked an important step toward better, more inclusive healthcare and education for people in Kosovo and beyond.

Let’s go back to where it all began! ✨

Heimerer College, in partnership with ten local and international organizations, embarked on an exciting journey by establishing a Student-run Interdisciplinary Allied Health Practice Center. This initiative, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program, aimed to revolutionize education in allied health sciences through digital and mixed-reality learning.

The creation of this Digital Center was a game-changer for lifelong learning in the health sector. Aligned with the Bologna process and supported by partnerships with health providers, ministries, and national industry, it opened doors to innovative learning and collaboration opportunities.

The kick off meeting took place online on February 15, 18, 22, and 23, 2021, marking the official launch of this ambitious project. It was the starting point of a new era for Kosovo’s students and health professionals, introducing ICT and digital skills, modern pedagogical approaches, and fostering strategic partnerships.

This project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program and includes a consortium of 11 partners, with 7 local and 4 European organizations working together to create meaningful change in education and healthcare.

What an incredible journey it has been so far! 🌍

Our next mobility takes us to Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki from March 18-22, 2024. This 5-day reflective workshop was a opportunity to review our project achievements, assess what still needs to be done, and explore strategies to ensure the sustainability of our digital platform, developed courses, and simulated learning experiences.

We also had productive discussions about two scientific researches, setting the stage to share our data and insights at the final dissemination event on September 12-13, 2024.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey

We are happy to announce that the Consortium members of the SIAHDPC Project participated in a Study Visit at Metropolia University in Helsinki, Finland. This visit was a crucial part of this Capacity Building of Higher Education project, which aimed to enhance the virtual and mixed reality practice-oriented education in allied health sciences through life-long learning (LLL), in line with the Bologna process and collaboration with rehabilitation/health providers, ministries and national industry.

The main goal of this study visit was to enhance understanding and sharing of best practices about the Digitalization of the Learning/Teaching process, and the application of digital technology in the provision of health and social services. At this point in the project (month 27/44), this event helped the Kosovan partners to enter the piloting phase of the first Centre of its kind in the Western Balkans at the premises of Heimerer College. Specifically, the visit was focused on new pedagogical approaches, digital platforms, continuous professional courses, e-Health services, quality assessment approaches, and methodologies.

In parallel, partners were able to participate in the Futures Arena, a two-day event that brought together transdisciplinary expertise to create insights into the future. The event hosted international speakers and workshops for discovering new perspectives on collaboration and learning for sustainable well-being.

After the study visit, the partners will work on the further definition of the process milestones and next steps of the piloting phase of the SIAHDPC upon their return to Kosova. Overall, this study visit was an essential step towards achieving the project's goals and enhancing the quality of education and services in the allied health sciences field.

As far as the 2nd day of the respective Seminar is concerned, it was matched with another relatively significant international conference organized by the ISEE-HSP and HC traditionally. It was the 13th Symposium ‘Innovation, Health and Technology/ Multidisciplinary approach”. Such an event was considered ideal for dissemination and exploitation of the project results, given the fact that it represented the biggest event on those topics in Kosovo/region. Hence, partners were able to present SIAHPDC project goals, objectives and progress achieved till that point in time to a relatively wide audience of 293 health professionals, policy makers, managers of educational and health care organizations, researchers, students and other stakeholders.
