Welcome Markia “Kia” Powe to Plainfield Health Care Center!

We are excited to welcome Kia to our team at Plainfield Health Care Center as the Administrator. With 20 years of experience in healthcare, Kia brings a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to her new role. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and has a diverse background that began as a Medical Assistant in a primary care setting. For nearly a decade, she excelled in Business Development, Admissions, and Marketing before stepping into her current position in October 2023.

Kia's passion for healthcare is deeply rooted in her personal experiences, having helped her grandmother during her battle with breast cancer as an adolescent. This experience instilled in her a lifelong commitment to helping others, and her nurturing nature shines through in everything she does.

As Administrator, Kia is dedicated to supporting day-to-day operations at Plainfield Health Care Center while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. She acts as a vital liaison between staff, families, and the community, constantly striving to create a happy, safe, and healthy environment for everyone involved. Cultural awareness and customer service excellence are integral to her philosophy.

Outside of work, Kia enjoys making natural hair and body oils, crafting natural soaps, and dancing. She loves to travel and finds relaxation by spending time at the beach or enjoying a spa day. Her favorite treats include Heath Bars and soft chocolate chip cookies, which she often indulges in while connecting with the residents.

Please join us in welcoming Kia to Plainfield Health Care Center! We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact she will make in our community.

🌟 We are thrilled to welcome our new Executive Director, Evelyn Laws, LNHA, to Brownsburg Health Care Center! 🌟

Evelyn brings over 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, along with Master’s degrees in Healthcare and Legal Studies, giving her a unique perspective on the complexities of healthcare management.

Her passion for healthcare lies in building strong teams, elevating standards, and creating supportive environments for both staff and residents. Evelyn thrives on the challenges of improving systems, strengthening compliance, and fostering personal growth among her team members. For her, healthcare leadership is about serving others while driving meaningful, measurable outcomes.

When she’s not at work, Evelyn enjoys decorating and spending quality time with her family. Fun fact: she has a passion for mysteries and puzzles—she loves the thrill of figuring things out! Her favorite snacks include plain skinny popcorn and Twizzlers licorice candy, perfect for cozy nights in.

What Evelyn loves most about her role is the chance to coach her team. Helping others discover their strengths and grow into confident professionals is incredibly fulfilling for her. She believes that leadership isn’t just about managing a building; it’s about elevating people and creating an environment where they can thrive.

After a busy day, Evelyn finds joy in calling her grandson, who has special needs. Hearing about his day brings her back to what matters most and reminds her of the legacy she’s building.

We are excited to have Evelyn on board and look forward to her leadership at Brownsburg Health Care Center! 🎉

Happy Social Work Day 💙

I say this all the time, but our social workers are truly the backbone of what we do.

They are managing behaviors, navigating family dynamics, handling discharges, fixing problems no one else even sees yet, and still showing up for residents with compassion every single day.

This job is not easy. It’s constant problem solving, advocating, and carrying situations that would overwhelm most people.

What I respect the most is that even on the hard days, they still choose to care.

To my teams across all of our buildings, I see you. I know the workload, I know the pressure, and I know how much you carry. What you do matters more than you probably hear, and it makes a real difference in our residents’ lives every single day.

Proud to lead this group and thankful for each of you.

Happy Social Work Day 💙 Courtney Perry (Peterson)
