For centuries, birth doulas have supported expecting mothers, and death doulas have supported dying individuals. Recently, studies have been done to measure the impact doula work has on the client’s overall experience and the results were impressive...
But it got me thinking:
👉 If doula-assisted mothers had healthier babies, fewer birth complications, and positive overall experiences…
👉 If doula-assisted individuals diagnosed with a terminal illness felt supported and better equipped to arrange their life affairs…
👉If doula-assisted families felt less stress and knew what to expect…
💡Then, wouldn’t it make sense that doulas could provide a needed branch of support through the patient journey for organ failure, transplantation, and even living organ donation?
✨Enter: Transplant Doulas
At the heart of this work is the ability to provide emotional, physical, spiritual, and practical support across the transplant care continuum—helping to bridge the gaps that have been identified through research and studies.
This concept didn’t exist (or so Google says) before I introduced this body of work in late 2022. Now, we are on a mission to see every transplant patient have access to transplant doula support if they choose; we’re committed to setting the bar exceptionally high for transplant doula instruction, and we understand the responsibility we’ve taken on by sharing and advocating for the value of transplant doulas.
It’s a tall order, but we’re ready for it. 💪
🎉On June 16th, doors for our Training & Network (which is a lifetime membership providing ongoing education, community, and professional growth support) will open. We hope to see you there!
