1950年代，两届诺贝尔奖得主Linus Pauling 创造了“分子矫正医学”和“分子矫正精神病学”这两个名词，生平致力于研究营养生化医学。他倡导以此作为医疗保健的基础，利用各种营养素提供不同状况病人的需要，以改善细胞功能，重获健康。
