This wasn't an academic study, but from what I hear from my clients about TikTok advice, it seems accurate. Some highlights:
-83% of videos were found to be misleading.
-45% contained inaccurate info, with 14% containing harmful content.
-9% of content makers had relevant credentials.
-100% of the videos on ADHD had misleading content (with other diagnosis topics not doing much better).
TikTok is increasingly being used as a search engine for all kinds of advice - including mental health.
