For Social Work month, we want to take a moment to feature the social workers who made up an integral part of our team here at New Tide.

Mireille Robichaud is the mother of 3 beautiful children and has been a social worker for almost 22 years. She has spent a good part of her career working in mental health and corrections in Miramichi and also working in community in Elsipogtog First Nation. To know Mireille is to connect with her - her genuineness, authenticity, and humour bring a humanistic approach to her inside and outside of the therapy space.

Mireille has been a member of our team since we opened our doors in 2023 and has played an important role in supporting so many of our cherished clients.

Welcome to the team, Sarah!
We are excited to welcome Sarah to our Bathurst office, where she will offer in-person sessions, as well as virtual appointments across the province.

Sarah is a Licensed Counselling Therapist candidate offering a calm, grounded space where clients can feel safe, understood, and supported as they build practical tools for everyday life.

Sarah integrates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with creativity and nervous system regulation strategies. She believes healing isn’t just about reducing symptoms, it’s about helping people reconnect with their strengths, identity, and sense of possibility.

With a background in the arts and a long-standing pottery practice, Sarah views creativity as a meaningful pathway to presence and authentic self-expression. She believes creativity belongs to everyone, not as a measure of talent, but as a willingness to explore, experiment, and release perfection.

Sarah is passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, challenge self-blame, and build confidence in their ability to do hard things, because growth often lives just on the other side of discomfort.

Help us welcome our new team member, Vanessa!

Vanessa will be offering evening and weekend appointments in Miramichi and virtually across New Brunswick.

Born and raised in Miramichi, Vanessa is deeply committed to serving individuals and families within her community. She has experience supporting individuals, couples, children, and adolescents across a range of settings.

Vanessa’s professional background includes extensive work in child welfare, both provincially and within First Nations communities. This experience has strengthened her commitment to social justice, self-determination, and culturally responsive practice. She is passionate about supporting individuals and families in identifying their strengths and moving toward goals that are meaningful to them.

Her approach is rooted in strengths-based and critical social work perspectives. Vanessa is dedicated to fostering empowerment, collaboration, and client-led growth. She provides a trauma-informed, compassionate space where clients can safely explore complex emotions, process difficult experiences, and build resilience.

Vanessa MacDonald Moran earned her Bachelor of Social Work from St. Thomas University in 2018 and will graduate with her Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University in May 2026.

If you do not have coverage or your coverage does not cover interns, we provide a reduced sliding scale for our intern services. Working with an intern can be a meaningful and supportive way to begin therapy, while also accessing services at a lower cost. Interns are closely supervised and supported by our clinical team to ensure you receive thoughtful, high quality care.

If you choose to continue seeing your intern therapist after they become fully licensed, you will be able to transition to using your extended health benefits (if you are covered for therapy services).

If you’ve been considering counselling but cost has felt like a barrier, this could be a great place to begin.

New Tide’s founder, Kaitlin Carroll, was invited to be one of the keynote speakers at the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick’s annual conference held in Miramichi. Kaitlin had the opportunity to speak on a topic that is very near and dear to her heart after spending the majority of her social worker career working in some capacity in both the mental health and housing fields. Kaitlin spoke alongside her friend and colleague Eryn Leigh about the intersection of mental health and housing precarity. Kaitlin and Eryn encouraged the audience of about 100 people to apply a recovery model that prioritizes social inclusion to our friends living in different housing situations.
