Avoiding contact with family
Continuous low mood, feeling upset and tearful
Feeling hopeless and low self-esteem
Lack of motivation or interest in things
Feeling irritable and intolerant of other people

So what it's depression:
Depression is when you feel persistently sad and unhappy for a long period of time and affects your everyday life. It restricts you from doing tasks you would normally enjoy doing. It is like carrying a heavy bag and each day it gets heavier and heavier. Depression can sometimes be viewed as trivial and not a real health condition - this is not true. Depression is a real illness with real symptoms and is a very common mental health condition.

In Scotland a total of 877,453 patients were dispensed at least one antidepressants during 2016/17 at a cost of £44m a year equating to 19% of the Scottish population

In England the number of antidepressants items prescribed gas more than doubled in the last decade. In 2016, there was a 64.7 million antidepressant items dispensed 33.7 million (108.5%) more than 2006, when there were 31.0 million.

In 2018, in Great Britain, there was 595,000 cases of work related stress, depression or anxiety leading to 15.4 million working days lost
