In a little over 6 weeks, our team at Scenic NW Surgical Outreach will return to the Mara Triangle in Kenya to provide free surgical services directly to the Mara tribe and surrounding communities.

Each year, we witness the incredible impact of accessible healthcare in this remote region—and we couldn’t do it without your support.

Have you ever been to a hospital with almost no resources?
Where power outages are a daily reality. Where running water is unreliable. There’s no A/C, and patients rely on their families to bring them food—because the hospital can’t provide it.

Delivering care in these conditions is incredibly challenging. You never know from one day to the next what supplies, electricity, or support systems will be available. And yet—despite all of this—the patients are among the most patient, gracious, and resilient I’ve ever encountered. They accept care with quiet strength and deep gratitude.

After returning from Malawi and Kenya, I find myself overwhelmed by the contrast. In the U.S., I have access to what feels like unlimited medical resources. And while our system has its flaws, it’s also a gift I’ve taken for granted.

I’m reminded not only to be grateful—but also to be mindful of how we use what we have.

Let this be a call to action:
Appreciate the privilege of access. Waste less. Support global health initiatives. And never forget that quality care should be a right—not a luxury—no matter where you are in the world.

Last month we returned to Antigua, Guatemala to perform over 60 surgeries in just four days. I was one of the General Surgeons and we also had Gynecology and Dental surgeons.

Some of the few photos while out on a safari. We did one full day of safari and a half day but the amazing thing is that there are so many animals just around camp too! Every morning there were giraffs just outside our window and zebras wandering around campus.

It is a short walk to the Obras hospital in Antigua, Guatemala from our hotel. Our day starts with rounding on our patients from the day before and then preparing for a full day of surgeries!

We’re heading back to the Masai Mara, Kenya this November 12–22, 2025, and we’re building our team now — and yes, that includes you, your friends, your family!

We’re putting together two teams:
🔹 Medical Team – vaccine clinics, dental care, baby check-ups, minor surgeries, and training local staff.
🔹 Community Development Team – Get ready to build, paint, landscape, and help renovate a community health clinic.
