Maintaining identity in motherhood is hard! ⁣

And during covid times is it even harder! ⁣

But it is critical to maintain a slice of the pie for you. ⁣

Motherhood, while it is an important and dominating role, does not reflect all of who you are. It should not consume the whole pie.⁣

You are a Mother, a partner, a friend, a talented and gifted person with their own unique gifts and passions. ⁣

These may all feel like they get pushed to the side during the first year of motherhood, but I promise you they aren't gone. ⁣

They are still in there and as you come out of the postpartum fog, you will find them and tap into them again.⁣

What has helped you maintain and sense of identity in motherhood?

What is actually happening when there is friction between you and your little ones!!
Identify the cause and attend to it..

I never raised my voice or lost my cool... until I became a mom.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
No one warned me that 99.9% (slight exaggeration 😜) of my motherhood journey would consist of me trying to regulate MYSELF.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Nope, not my kids. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
ME. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Kids will lose their cool. They will melt down. They will hit. They will throw toys. They will test limits. It is to be expected and developmentally understandable for certain ages. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
I however, have to keep my cool. I can't flop on the floor yelling and screaming (although sometimes it is tempting). ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
I work with a lot of mom's who feel shame and guilt for getting angry or upset by their child's behavior. They may lash out in return or turn their feelings inward and beat themselves up. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Join Dr. Ashurina Ream () and I for a workshop on how to manage mommy rage. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We will address how to manage your anger response towards your child (or partner's) triggering behaviour. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Topics addressed:⁣⁣
~ Understanding Postpartum rage⁣⁣
~ Learning to Identify the Needs Underneath the Anger⁣⁣
~ Practical Strategies for in the Heat of the Moment⁣⁣
~Ways to Repair When you've Lost Your Cool⁣⁣
~ Ways to Practice Self Compassion⁣⁣
~ So much more⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The workshop will leave you feeling empowered and full of strategies.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Dr. Ream and Erica will be incorporating your questions so the workshop will be interactive and based on the real-life scenarios happening in your home.⁣⁣
We know that momming is unpredictable, just in case something comes up and you can't make it live we will email you the recorded version after the live event. ⁣⁣

What are some question you have about keeping your cool in motherhood?

When, baby loss happens, healthcare 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ staff can:
🧸show sensitivity and empathy
🧸acknowledge how the parents feel
🧸provide clear information
🧸understand that the parents may need specific support both in dealing with their loss and in potentially trying to have another baby

We are so busy growing up that we often forget our parents are growing old too.
In today’s pandemic they have sufficient food and other resources, what they probably crave is our time.
Every time we talk to the older people around us it reassures them that they have someone who cares for them or someone with whom they can share their anxieties and worries.
The current situation demands that we stay put wherever we are,but thank God for the video calling and messaging apps!!
We can be connected with them virtually..
All they need is a little bit of love and respect!!
October 1: International day of older persons.

Talking about your feelings and emotions is often helpful in calming the inner turmoil...
Let’s have a “carefrontation” with your fears..

It is normal to feel fearful and anxious during COVID-19. Talking about your feelings will lessen your distress.

Be connected yet isolated!!

Be connected yet isolated!!

If keeping your grandparents safe means you can't visit them...talk to them every day so they don't feel alone.

Keeping each other safe and connected is everyone's responsibility.

Physical distancing is not social isolation.

2 nd April-world autism awareness day!

Today is World Autism Awareness Day.

1 in 160 children has an autism spectrum disorder.
Autism begins in childhood and tend to persist into adolescence and adulthood. It refers to a range of conditions characterised by some degree of:
🔴 impaired social behaviour, communication and language
🔴 a narrow range of interests and activities that are both unique to the individual and carried out repetitively.

People with autism are often subject to stigma, discrimination and human rights violations. This needs to stop!

That’s how mommies can plan the day for their kiddos!!

Children 3-4 years of age 👧🧒 should:

Padmasana- The lotus posture
Just as the lotus flower blooms and grows in the muck,so does practice of this posture every day helps us to bloom and grow stronger in the difficult situations in our life.
It’s a meditative posture,so best suited when you want to be focused, concentrated and one pointed.
It helps you to be more aware and mindful.
Corrects the posture.
Increases the flexibility at the hip joint and ankles.
Who should not do it??
-Those suffering from Osteoarthritis of knees should avoid this posture.
-People with injuries to the spine and ankle should avoid this Asana.
